SOTD: Gardenia by Ahmed Al Maghribi 21/01/2026
Working through some of my pre Christmas samples. Here is an interesting one. It's quite pleasant and enjoyable. By all accounts it leans on the feminine side of the fence, but the leather and Patchouli balance things out. Despite being titled "Gardenia," this fragrance is less about a single flower and more about a complex, leathery-oriental journey. I can only describe this as floral Oriental scent. It transitions from a very bright opening into a deep, moody, and sophisticated dry down.
It opens with notes of Black Currant, Sweet Orange & Pink Pepper. A juicy, slightly tart burst that feels energetic and fresh. At its core, Leather, Saffron, Iris, Damask Rose & Oakmoss. The leather is "clean" and supple, balanced by powdery iris and a medicinal touch of saffron. At its base, Oud, Amber, Patchouli, Vanilla & White Musk, give a warm, earthy finish. The oud is polished, providing a solid foundation alongside creamy vanilla and musk.
Performance here is exceptional, a good 8 hours on skin , with a noticable scent trail that projects for the first 2โ€“3 hours before settling into a rich, personal aura. What I like about this is the
combination of leather and patchouli gives it a serious, boss-like vibe. However, as with many of the floral heavy fragrances from Ahmed Al Maghribi they tend to be repetitive, and for me smell to similar. Maybe it's the materials they are using And for that reason, I doubt I'd add it to my collection.
