Review and SOYD - Siren & Sailors by Jusbox
Today’s (well, yesterday’s) testing is the fruity booziness of the line’s Feminine-coded Siren & Sailors, hooked by the music of Amy Winehouse.
It opens… in spectacular fashion. An incredible warm peach, a hint of floral, and a dagger-jab of bergamot citrus. It’s fresh, it’s sweet, and it’s memorable.
The booziness in the mid? Not so much. I mean, it’s there, I guess, and the floral aspect is dialled up a notch with rose, but after such a stellar start it rather disappears into the background. The drydown eventually meanders into familiar vanilla territory without fanfare. All too standard.
So. The fragrance introduced itself with a bang, before burning out and disappearing in an all too depressingly predictable way. Looking at Amy’s trajectory, perhaps that’s by design.
I like Amy Winehouse’s output. And it’s a shame, the way things went. Addiction is a nightmare. But I’m surprised at the playlist supplied. No Rehab? Really?
Nevertheless, it’s Fragrance we’re discussing, not music, not fame. So what of this scent? Does it pass muster?
They tried to make me buy a bottle, but I said No, No, No.
Next up, Spring Dance. Flowers, lightness and violins.
