Mind Games Queening (1/3)
First of my MG samples. I started with the most popular one from the house and here’s what I think.
The notes felt a bit jumbled at first. It opened with cotton, milk, coconut and vanilla, with a touch of crisp green freshness, probably from cypress or apple. Within a few minutes, the proportions shifted slightly. There was a very faint hint of booziness and saffron. The cotton note started giving fresh linen vibes. As it dried down, the milkiness faded and it became more musky, eventually settling into a very clean and sweet “white fragrance”.
Sweet, lactonic and clean. It reminded me a lot of a vanilla wafer I had as a kid. I remember trying Maison Margiela Afternoon Delight a few weeks back and this feels very similar, minus the nuttiness. There’s also a coconut lotion from Bath & Body Works that smells almost identical to this.
Performance is decent. Around 6-8 hours overall, with the last 2 to 3 hours sitting close to the skin. Projection and sillage are above average for the first 2 hours. Best suited for cool or cold weather, though it should still perform reasonably well on warmer evenings.
My main cons are that it leans about 70/30 feminine and feels quite similar to two other fragrances (Bianco Latte and Afternoon Delight), yet it lacks something. I cannot quite pinpoint what, but perhaps an extra opening or mid note could have elevated it. Considering it costs roughly the combined price of the other two, that is not a great sign.
That said, I would still give it a solid 8.2/10. Great quality and blending. Very easy to wear, cozy and easy to like. I would love to smell this on other women, but personally I will stick to Bianco Latte. Next time I’ll try to layer this with something to see whats missing.
Have you tried this one?
