Hey good people!
It’s been a while! I’ve been pretty quiet around the Brotherhood for the last few months, but I’m still here, still enjoying this crazy hobby, and of course, still smelling good! 😂
I thought I’d come back with a little comparison between two fragrances I own and really enjoy: Blonde Amber and Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic. Both are fantastic, but for very different reasons. Please let me hear your thoughts!
Blonde Amber gives me a soft, warm, plush, golden, enveloping aura. Boozy dried fruit, amber, tobacco, vanilla/tonka; it feels incredibly polished. You smell it and immediately think luxury. It’s beautiful almost from beginning to end, but it’s also fairly easy to understand.
Hedonistic has more attitude. The maté, dark fruit/cherry, tobacco, florals, orris, leather, papyrus, labdanum… there are contrasting textures. Bitter against sweet. Green against dark. Smoky against creamy. It evolves and makes you keep smelling your arm because you’re trying to figure out exactly what you’re smelling. This is what I want a niche fragrance to be.
Not niche simply because it’s expensive or unusual, but niche in the sense of: “We made this because this is the smell we wanted to create, not because we needed everyone to like it.”
Hedonistic — 10/10
Blonde Amber — 9.5/10
Blonde Amber may be the prettier fragrance. Hedonistic is the better composition to my nose.
If I owned those exact two bottles, neither would leave. But if you told me, “You can only smell one for the rest of your life,” I’m taking Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic.
That’s the one I’d call a masterpiece.
