A tale of two experiences: Tom Ford Bois Pacifique
After posted about Ood mineral yesterday. I was tempted to wear that onevas well, but it decided on this one instead from my Tom Ford stable.
So this fragrance is a genuinely interesting one for me. It's one I gravitated to almost instantly when I smelled it for the first time and is probably one of the few recent releases from this house that I've thought was as good as pre-sale offerings. That conversation Is another post for another day however.
In terms of this one -which I wore yesterday- there was such a difference in my experience of the opening and the mid/dry down.
I might have tried to smell a little too soon after application because I got a quick note of something like spicy. Maybe the turmeric, maybe the cardamom and then sort of went a little nose blind other than a sort of acrid and animalic salty note. Even though it's not listed, I wonder if there's an aquatic note in this one somewhere, because I often have that reaction to ozonic, aquatic and salt note openings where it just overwhelms my sniffer. So there was a little hint of something really acrid and slightly animalic wasn't unpleasant persay. Didn't get very much cardamom as a result and then not much at all.
Fast forward a couple of hours and I kept getting whiffs of something resinous and woody, that was quite pleasant. The true true Majesty of this fragrance though was that when I woke up this morning I could smell the wonderful musky Woody resinous base pushing off my skin in a most pleasant way. So the performance is definitely there as I only sprayed twice on my chest and once on the pulse point my elbow crook.
I'm about 2 weeks away from a Mediterranean vacation so I'm testing this one out as a potential travel companion. The opening feels very appropriate for warmer weather and that deep and Rich base might make it a all-day wear as the dry down would suit evening out at dinner. I have a few more including Costa Azzurra to also consider in the next few days before I narrow down the contenders to what gets decanted into my travel bottles.
