TAKING ACTION:
✅Tell me one area of life where you have a fixed mindset? How about one area where you have a growth mindset?
On Monday, I asked you if you generally have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset. The truth is, most of us have both.
According to Registered Dietician Carrie Dennett, most clients have either a growth mindset or a “mixed” mindset. A mixed mindset is when you have a growth mindset in some areas and a fixed mindset in others. Sound familiar? This is normal because we’ve all had different experiences in life. We typically believe what we’ve been taught. This isn’t always negative, but often is. Especially when we’ve been taught incorrectly. 💯
Let’s look at some examples below ⬇️
🚫 If you were taught most of your life that a low-fat, low-calorie diet was the best way to lose weight, you may struggle to let that belief go. This is an example of a fixed mindset.
✅On the other hand, you may challenge yourself in the gym—picking up heavier weights, signing up for group classes, etc. This is an example of a growth mindset.
The point is—you can have both. And probably do.
The good news is that the brain is neuroplastic, and if you have a growth mindset in some areas, it’s possible to have a growth mindset in other areas!
