Great news for Canadian women!
Provincial governments are finally rolling out coverage for peri/menopause hormone therapy! Woohoo! So far, it’s Manitoba leading the charge, and BC has now joined. Other provinces to follow (hopefully). Unfortunately, this does NOT cover compounded hormones….but it’s a major step in the right direction, as it does cover the mass-produced pharmaceutical bioidentical and synthetic hormones. (If you work with someone who compounds hormones, you can always ask them to Rx you the standard pharmaceutical variety if you want to save money.) https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/practitioner-professional-resources/pharmacare/plans/national-pharmacare-plan-np/plan-np-menopausal-hormone-therapy … More deets if you’re interested: Plan NP is the new National Pharmacare plan in B.C. that, among other drugs, will fully or partially cover a defined list of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT/HRT) medications for MSP‑enrolled residents, with no Special Authority required for any of the covered MHTs. What Plan NP is: • Plan NP is a federal–provincial pharmacare program administered through BC PharmaCare, starting March 1, 2026. • It covers select diabetes medications, menopausal hormone therapy, and contraceptives at 100% for eligible B.C. residents, subject to low‑cost alternative rules for some products. • Coverage is processed automatically in PharmaNet at the pharmacy, similar to other PharmaCare plans.[gov]

Ah, the new food pyramid… Hot off the press, with a catchy - and actually useful - headline message: “Eat real food.” On the surface, this is a welcome shift from the old abstract “dietary patterns” language to something plain and practical—especially for midlife women (who already struggle enough with knowing what to eat, or not!). The whole thing is better in some ways, and worse/confusing in others. Check out this short blog post I wrote for you if you want the deets. Love to know your thoughts! Chime in below. :)

Inspiration for the new year!
If you're not yet "friends" with the fabulous Mel Robbins and her podcast...oh boy, she's a goodie. Her pod is one of my faves - I listen often, especially when I want a pick-me-up.
