Shocking pesticide levels in kids' cereals!
If you have kids and they eat cereal, check this out: Moms Across America and others supported independent testing of major cereals for levels of the carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting herbicide, glyphosate: https://www.momsacrossamerica.com/cereal_test_results "The findings raise serious concerns about contamination in the food supply and highlight the urgent need for stronger regulations, accountability, increased testing, and a global ban on the carcinogenic and endocrine-disrupting herbicide, glyphosate." Key findings: - Organic isn't necessarily better, sadly, for a variety of reasons (discussed in article). - Over 90% of popular American cereal brands tested positive for glyphosate residue - 6 out of 7 certified organic US cereal samples tested positive for glyphosate - Organic cereals Kashi and Cascadian Farms, had the highest levels of glyphosate, up to 235x the level that caused harm in lab studies - Breakfast cereals with the highest levels are owned by Kellogg’s and General Mills - Glyphosate use and lack of nutrients result in over-fortification of cereals with iron *Cereal ratings - worst to best:* Glyphosate Levels in U.S. Cereals: From Most to Least Contaminated 1. Kashi Cocoa Clusters Organic – 23.53 ppb 2. Cascadian Farm Honey Nut Cereal Organic – 22.05 ppb 3. Kellogg’s Fruit Loops – 13.77 ppb 4. Quaker Instant Oatmeal Cinnamon & Spice – 13.29 ppb 5. Kellogg’s Corn Flakes – 12.83 ppb 6. General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios – 11.26 ppb 7. Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Organic – 11.19 ppb 8. General Mills Cookie Crisp – 8.64 ppb 9. Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies – 7.38 ppb 10. Kellogg’s Rice Krispies – 5.32 ppb 11. GreenWise Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Organic – 3.34 ppb 12. Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch Organic – 1.91 ppb 13. Nature’s Sunrise Crunchy Vanilla Organic – 1.81 ppb 14. GreenWise Corn Flakes Organic – Not Detected (ND) NOTE: This is not just an American problem. A follow-up study done in Europe showed high levels there too: https://www.momsacrossamerica.com/glyphosate_in_kids_cereals

@Lisa Amstutz Not eating much cereal seems like a great way forward given the absence of data for other brands...and is a good thing anyway! Thanks for your comment!
Wisdom in beautiful podcast form - from Elizabeth Gilbert
It's not too often I listen to a podcast that changes how I think about life, purpose, myself...but this one rocked my world as I was out gardening today - my Sunday treat! https://tim.blog/2024/09/26/elizabeth-gilbert-2/ Elizabeth Gilbert is the acclaimed author of "Eat, Pray, Love", among other treasures, and an absolute delight to listen to. She's been on Tim's show a few times - the old episodes are really worth a listen too. (If you're not familiar with Tim Ferriss, please allow me...he is REALLY amazing: an OG podcaster and a brilliant, sincere, authentic guy. I love his work and am a long-time listener of his show, which runs the gamut from philosophy to finance to health to the arts...all the things. He's just such a great host. And refreshingly, even though he has built an empire as an entrepreneur, investor, author, podcaster, and lifestyle guru and has a very loyal following of mostly men, he is also VERY open about his mental health struggles with treatment-resistant depression, including a period of being suicidal. His family has also experienced issues with bipolar, addiction, and suicide, which are personal motivations for his work in mental health advocacy. He has also spoken about childhood sexual abuse trauma and has explored treatments like psychedelics and other tools to manage his mental health. He's just such a gem and an excellent role model for men IMHO.)

For phone addicts: ScreenZen
Maybe it's you, maybe it's your kids...we all know someone who spend a liiiiittle too much time scrolling. This app is really good and I'll be adding it to the BB40 course content: https://www.screenzen.co/ My partner (a self-professed phone addict) LOVES it - says it's made a huge difference. It's clever in that it allows user-guided limits on phone use - helps meter usage by allowing the user to set their own limits on 1, how often they can open an app in a day, 2. how much time they can spend on it and 3. it even gives a pop-up warning asking "do you really want to open this app?" when one goes to mindlessly reach for their social media feed again... I think most kids and adults-in-the-last-hour-before-bed can probably benefit from this!

Rebounder
Trying to find ways to make home workouts fun again. Does anyone have a rebounder that they use for exercise ? Is this one of those things you use for a month and then get bored of once the novelty wears off?

I have one!! I love mine! Though I do go on and off using it...haha. I mostly use it in the winter when it's crappy outside. But it mades me happy to bounce on and is so efficient! My friend Naomi makes super fun little rebounder videos on YouTube if you're interested in some classes: https://www.youtube.com/@NaomiJoyFitness Have fun!
