This group of active-duty, retired, and military family students has just broken the mold… They are the second class to complete the 15-week accelerated Orthopedic Technology program with the Georgia VECTR Center at Central Georgia Technical College “If there were medals for endurance they would have them all,” said Orthopedic Technology instructor and program chair, Crystal Black. “They all balanced an accelerated format for this program in a fashion that is exemplary of their character.” Black spoke to their “unbreakable” spirit accomplishing a feat that will lead them to crucial jobs in the healthcare industry. According to ZipRecruiter, the national average for an entry level orthopedic tech is $46,000-56,000. The program began in June with 9 students graduating today. https://www.gavectr.org

Spouses Complete VECTR Center’s Military Spouse Training Initiative, Ready to Join the IT Workforce. Warner Robins, Ga. – Ten military spouses recently completed the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center Military Spouse Training Initiative (MSTI) a workforce development program delivered by Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) and designed to prepare participants for in-demand careers in Information Technology (IT). MSTI is a rigorous six-month program that equips participants with technical knowledge and professional skills, including preparation for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. The program provides foundational training in CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+, covering topics such as computer hardware, networking, cloud systems, and cybersecurity. Students develop essential workplace competencies like communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and job readiness, including resume development and interview preparation. “This program not only empowers military spouses with valuable, career-ready skills, but also supports the broader defense workforce by helping place qualified professionals into IT positions,” said Andrea Griner, Vice President for Economic Development at CGTC. “We are proud of these military spouses for their commitment and excited to see where their careers lead.” The initiative is specifically designed to support active-duty military spouses. Additional enrollment is occasionally available to other eligible participants. Following successful completion of the Security+ exam, students are qualified to apply for entry-level IT positions such as systems, network, or security administrators in both civilian and federal sectors.
