Sore Arms and saddle discomfort
43 year old trying to re-kindle my love for cycling. I got a road bike a couple of years ago and Zwift ride for indoor / winter riding. I've struggled to get the right fit on both - over recent months I find myself getting numbness in my groin after 10-15 mins on the Zwift ride and then both arms get sore - mostly the forearms . I don't stay near any bike shops for a bike fit so have tried the online/virtual offerings as well as a variety of saddles over the last 12 months and just cant get rid of either issue. I assumed the issue was weight being to far forward and putting a strain on my arms and pressure towards the front of the saddle but the changes I've made don't seem to help. Will try get some clips added in the next week but any tips or suggestions as to where I'm going wrong would be appreciated.

@Kostas Petrakis That approach helped me as well. Dropping the saddle quite low and then slowly working back up made it much easier to feel the difference and find a better position. It really helps to understand the symptoms of being too high versus too low.

@Ali B Hey Ali! Your saddle on the Zwift Ride definitely looks way too high. Your leg is almost fully locked out at the bottom of the stroke, and your foot has to point down quite aggressively to maintain contact. On your road bike, the position looks much better, though it might still be a tiny bit too high there as well it's just harder to tell from the video. On the Zwift Ride, however, it’s very obvious. I'd recommend dropping it by 3 cm first and then slowly raising it bit by bit from there
Bike Fit Setups
There are a number of bike fit ‘tools/systems’ used by bike fitters, what is the best?

I’ve had a poor experience with Retül. In my case the fitter set me about 2 cm too high. I think many fitters rely too heavily on software and averaged target values instead of truly observing the rider. A well-trained eye and good judgment are, in my experience, far more valuable than any software alone.

@John Fulton Retül can definitely be a useful tool when it’s applied well. I don’t have any experience with Guru. After having poor experiences with Retül and a few other fitters, I personally don’t rely on those tools anymore. Instead, I try to fit myself and learn what actually works well for my own body. If you already have a bike and fit that works, I’d suggest comparing that geometry with the new bike first. A very useful site for this is bike-stats.de, where you can compare geometries and factor in things like stem length and spacers. It might be helpful for others here as well.

Welcome to the free community of The Bike Fit Academy. This space exists to support proper, thoughtful discussion around Bike Fit, the kind of conversations that are hard to have in comment sections on social media. Here you can: - Discuss Bike Fit topics with other Cyclists, Triathletes and Bike Fitters - Share photos and videos of riding positions for community discussion - Get advice around specific comfort issues. - Learn how to observe, analyse, and talk about position more clearly - Ask questions and explore why certain setups work, or don’t This community is about understanding Bike Fit and supporting each other through shared discussion and experiences. If you’re dealing with aches, pain, or discomfort on the bike, you’re not alone. This space exists for like-minded riders to share experiences, compare notes, and learn from each other through discussion. We (Professional Bike Fitters at UK Bike Fit) will occasionally contribute to discussions, share concepts, and run structured Q&A sessions. Most of the free value here comes from thoughtful peer discussion and explaining your reasoning. If you ask good questions, describe what you’re seeing, and stay curious, you’ll get far more out of this space than the comments section of Social Media, and help others do the same.
