To B-Roll or Not to B-Roll?
New Year’s Greetings, my friends❣️ Today, I paused to reflect on gratitude and confidence. I’m grateful for new friendships and confident about moving forward in 2026. Here’s a snippet from my B-Roll still shots used in my papier mâché figurine workshop tutorials. I enjoy experimenting with editing and wanted to share this with you. You can create B-Roll in many forms to fill space while narrating your videos, as many of you have nicely done. Which do you prefer; videos or still shots? Thanks for your time. 😍

I like both video and still shots as b-roll.

New discovery... or am I just slow on the uptake?
I've been in a real murky swamp as far as my YouTube journey goes, and my boots are so full of mud it's hard to walk... but I was bumbling around earlier and watched bits of random videos that came up and there was one, quite an old one I think about uploading, it may have been Virginia Kerr, but think it was one of the Vid IQ type outfits. Anyway...here is my little nugget... When you upload a video you should always do it a day or so before you publish, as this gives YouTube time to process it and then get it out to whoever they feel it may fit! I have always just uploaded and published right away, well after a couple of disasters I do check them quickly once they are uploaded for sound etc, but it's like within a minute or so of uploading I hit publish. I just thought that YouTube would not have access to them until they were published for some reason. Anyone else who didn't know about this? I feel a but daft to be honest ! PS. Quick random money saving "beauty" tip: If you are considering lip filler type stuff... save your money, just stick a hot knife in your mouth. It's painful but cheap... double daft today...!!

@L T YT is scanning as it is loading your video. I have posted both ways, and I have not seen where the videos that were scheduled did better than those I made public immediately.
Using video "clips" to your advantage.
Today I've committed to starting a two week trial to see how effective video clips are by releasing 1 at 11 am and one at 8 pm (9 hours between each clip). The clips I'm starting with are from videos that have higher views or considered evergreen videos. This was done by comparing lifetime and 28 day stats. My objective is to see if the clips will drive traffic to full length videos with an end screen and pinned comment (I found out that you cannot put an end screen if the clip is less than 25 secs long). The clips are more appealing to me versus a short because I get watch time from the clips, as I am not monetized. What are your observations and thoughts using clips?

@Just Krista most editors have a resize feature that will crop your video into the vertical. The past two months have been crazy over here at Caregiver Central, and I haven't been able to record anything. So I took a copy of some of my older videos, changed them to vertical and created enough shorts to post daily for the last 45 days. I never liked shorts, but I didn't want to disappear for almost 2 months. While it hasn't been a blockbuster experiment, 40 subs came from it, and I have received 1 view on each of the related long form videos.

@Just Krista I am learning DaVinci Resolve, after using Capcut. It's like going from riding a tricycle to flying a fighter jet. 👀
My Channel
Hi! I am Carol from Florida, US. I am rebranding my channel to better focus my niche and content pillars. My focus is helping midlife women pivot their careers and navigate life transitions by creating their future self through mindset shifts and building practices, routines, and systems that make sustainable change possible. I'm thinking that my channel is a funnel for my community and coaching practice and monetization is not a priority. ☀️
