Introducing myself
Hi everyone, I’m new here and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself—this is actually my very first post on the platform. If this isn’t the right place to post this, I sincerely apologize. I recently started a YouTube channel centered around psalm music, with more creative ideas I’m excited to share as time goes on. I definitely have a few surprises in store as the channel grows. If you’re interested, feel free to check out my channel. I’m excited to be here and look forward to learning from all of you as I continue this journey. https://www.youtube.com/@PsalmSoundWorship Thank you!
Hi Everyone! 👋
Hi all! I'm Kevin from Sydney, Australia. I've just joined the group so thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. I recently turned 60 and joined Skool at the end of Jan this year. Trying to find full-time work has been extremely frustrating and demoralizing - it's just incredible how ageist companies are, so Skool is now the route I'm going down. Since the beginning of March I have launched my community (Pattern Skool) and recently just created my YouTube channel. It's my first time creating videos and I'm learning the (many) ropes as I go. I am a self taught pattern designer (I can create designs you see on wallpaper, giftwrap, fabric, upholstery, etc.), and this is what my Skool community is based around - teaching beginners and creative hobbyists how to create patterns. The aim of my YouTube channel is to try and drive traffic to my Skool community, with a view to eventually making money with my community (being completely honest here!). I film tutorials for my channel on how to create patterns on an iPad using various applications. Anyway, that's a brief intro of myself. I look forward to exploring this community in the next few weeks.
Hi Everyone! 👋
My Channel
Good morning! I just started my channel on Feb 1 after being laid off at 63. I started collecting SS last year but was working a part-time job in the corporate world. I wanted to start a channel for the last year or so but was always sooo scared to post the video for various reasons... I felt cringe looking at myself on video; I was trying to lose the weight I had gained after having kidney cancer and so many other excuses. I told my friend I was going in to the office to return my laptop (I worked from home) and told her I'm going to make a YouTube video about it. Her response was, "You've been saying that for a year or so." Well, I made the video and then posted it on Sunday, Feb 1st. It felt cathartic because I was SOOOO over the corporate world. I was hoping there was someone else there that could resonate with that feeling, and I wanted to document my life as I went through this transition of going into full retirement. I was hoping for about 50-100 views on the video because I heard hardly anyone sees your first 10 videos, which I was okay with because I figured it would give me time to get used to being on camera. I posted a 2nd video a few days later. I truly never expected the channel to grow sooo fast as it did, because by Friday I had met the monetization requirements. It took another week to actually get approved! It's been a bit overwhelming but in a good way! I'm so excited to be here. I still have a lot to learn. I say all of that not to brag but to say, JUST POST THE DANG THING! 🤗🤗🤗 Do it scared, do it messy, but just do it! because your future self will thank you! ❤️❤️
A New Member Saying Hello
Hi everyone, I’m brand new here, so I haven’t quite gotten my bearings yet. However, at the invitation of Karen Taylor, I thought I would introduce myself in this group. I haven’t posted anywhere else on the platform yet, but this seemed like a good, safe place to give it a try. I started making YouTube videos in earnest in around 2023 when I found myself as a full-time caregiver for my wife, who has early-onset dementia. My original intention was simply to record a few moments so I could show her doctor what was happening, and to share things with family and friends, but the channel slowly took on a life of its own. It's currently a Vlog style channel, and I record it almost exclusively on an Insta 360 GO3S that I always have in my pocket. Once in a while, I'll do a interview style video and I set up with proper multi camera angles and lighting and lav mics and so on, but for the most part it's completely spontaneous vlogging. Today the channel has about 41,000 subscribers and 12.5M views, and the videos receive thousands of comments from people all around the world. What has surprised me the most is that 99.9 percent of those comments are positive, supportive, and deeply kind. It has been astounding and really encouraging to discover that there is such a strong appetite for empathy, vulnerability, and honest storytelling. If you’re curious, feel free to have a look at my channel. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here as I find my way around. Thanks for the warm welcome. https://youtube.com/@johnvangurp?si=UqlGHVZDAG8k-ot_
