SOTD: Bad Boy Cobalt by Caroline Herrera 14/05/2026
Cobalt Électrique, released in 2022, took the evolution of the original Bad Boy line in a new direction. Moving away from the heavy, gourmand sweetness of its predecessors, Cobalt is more of a Woody Aromatic fragrance that focuses on a mineral sexiness. It was composed by Domitille Michalon-Bertier, with a concept of electric freedom. Housed in the iconic lightning bolt bottle & rendered gradient of cobalt blue. The opening hits with a crisp, invigorating blend of aromatic lavender & a zesty pink pepper, creating a fresh, spicy electric start. As it transitions into the heart, the fragrance takes an unusual turn with the inclusion of black plum, which adds a dark, fruity sweetness that is balanced by the floral greenness of geranium. The base is where the scent grounds itself into its signature mineral character; it features an earthy truffle accord with a smoky Haitian vetiver, reinforced by the clean, dry woodiness of cedar and oak. Performance is ok, nothing special, I'm getting about 5hrs on skin. Projection is moderate for the first 90m before it retreats into a close scent bubble. I would consider this more green than cobalt, think they messed up there, it is however wellsuited for Spring & Autumn, though it performs beautifully on cooler Summer evenings. Would have loved for that plum note to stand out more My Rating 5/10 Scent 1.5 Longevity 1.5 Sillage 1.5 Y/N .5

@Edward Mooney your thoughts on Polo Green?

@Edward Mooney I am trying to understand fragrance, the non-mainstream one. I think people wear popular scents to up their external perception instead of pursuing something relevant for them. How could I start? I have quit smoking 3 months ago and I get a great feel of scents
SOTD - Amouage King Blue
Picked this up at the Amouage store in the Houston Galleria mall last week, and decided to give it a try. This is my second day wearing it. It gets a lot of negative reviews online, and I don't know why. For me, this is a 9/10 fragrance, and I will definitely be picking up at least a 5 or 10mL decant. The opening is fresh and clean with that typical Amouage muskiness. As it dries down, it becomes more woody and spicy, but retains that brightness in the opening. I got about 10 hours yesterday out of it, which, for Amouage is on the more quiet side. It worked great in the higher heat, and I enjoyed smelling it on myself throughout the day.

@Jeff Beason what would you recommend to be a good time period for wearing a scent to confirm your choice?

@Jeff Beason that is the quantity, but what period of time do you suggest?
Has This Ever Happened to You?
Yesterday, I stopped by an outlet mall with one mission and one mission only: pick up Gisada Ambassador Intense. Simple enough, right? Well, after visiting three different fragrance stores, I discovered not a single one carried the line… but apparently they all carried temptation. So naturally, instead of leaving empty-handed like a disciplined adult, I somehow walked out with four new fragrances. Michael Malul Jet Black Mahogany and Citizen Jack Absolute started the financial damage, Bleu Suit – Private Collection by Lomani joined the party shortly after, and Graphite by Lika Milano delivered the final knockout punch to my wallet. At this point, I’m convinced fragrance shopping has less to do with self-control and more to do with survival instincts. I went looking for one bottle and returned home like I was building a backup fragrance collection for national emergencies.

@Raymond Reeves I layer my scents quite randomly - do you think that's a good starting point or should I educate myself more on this? (writing this message with cold and runny nose)

@Raymond Reeves thank you, could you pint me there?

@Jeffrey Plotka Amazing bottle - I see you are doing manual work - do you think this flask is a good idea or an overkill to raise price?
SOTD - Bvlgari Man Wood Essense edp
This one was another case of "Shipping Shock". The performance and the fragrance itself have gotten much better since I first got it a few weeks ago. The subtle woods with the slight sweetness really have become more pronounced. A very pleasant and nuanced fragrance. And, as I've mentioned before, the best looking bottle in my collection IMHO.
