Pasha de Cartier Parfum Cartier
Patience is a virtue with this one. Straight off the top - the Balsam Fir was really, really strong - I literally couldn't smell much other than Christmas Tree - which tbh, wasn't my favourite. However, 15-20mins in - and things started to get a lot, lot better. There is a soft sandalwood, blended beautifully with the floral notes of Labdanum, alongside this is a subtle hint of tonka/amber - though leans more towards the amber end to my nose. The boozier note takes quite a while to come through, but is definitely in there, and offers a sharper profile to compliment the sweetness of the sandalwood and amber. I've seen some comments that suggest there is a pungent liquor style fragrance, as someone who enjoys Pure Malt and London Burberry, I can't say I agree with this interpretation - moreover - I think it leans more delicate floral and warm spice/sweet on the dry down. Once its opened up, it conveys classy sophistication - something that I could imagine Pierce Brosnan rocking in his prime, (appreciate anyone under 35 is reading this and thinking - who the hell is Pierce Brosnan? 😁), a fragrance that would absolutely work while wearing a DJ or a sports jacket at a yacht club function etc. For me, it also leans more towards the mature, rather than younger end of the market, and not necessarily something that would be an everyday wear, more of an occasion scent. The performance - for those who are interested - seems pretty decent, still picking up the key base notes several hours in, and also appears to leave a fair sillage. Hands-up this is only a sample, so perhaps the sample I have isn't 100% representative of a full bottle, and also have no clue as to the batch etc. Overall, a high quality, well rounded and distinct creation, glad I picked out the sample!
