Random coeliac disease facts
Hey everyone, Thought I'd jump on here & start a thread because I've been doing a bit of research over the past week & I've learned some random & useful things about CD. For example, I discovered that laxatives are ineffective for us, and that we're at higher risk of miscarriages if we get glutened. So I thought maybe we could share some different facts we've found out about the way our bodies work with this condition & help educate each other 😊

@Bryony L That's so interesting! I have a dedicated chopping board but didn't think to check wooden utensils.
Brain Fog
Hi all. New here!! So I've been diagnosed with celiac disease and have had brain fog for about 2 months. I went gluten free 5 weeks ago and its gotten slightly better. My question is has anyone else dealt with this and how long did it take to go completely away? I still can't drive because of it.

I get brain fog when glutened too, I've found that focussing on restoring my gut health bit by bit has helped, along with slowing down, pacing myself & giving myself grace for experiencing this. I defs second the above comments around iron levels & other deficiencies, I have low iron & B12 and taking supplements for this has also helped my brain fog. Hope this helps <3
Living with with family who aren’t GF
Hey, me again😅 Anyone who lives with family who aren’t Coeliac/GF? How do you operate? What is separate? Do you share cutlery? Air fryer if using inserts? How do you go to other families houses/ visit friends and eat where you don’t have your GF sanctuary… pans, utensils, plates, trays etc? Last thing… Anyone with Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH)?😩

Hey! I live with my parents & siblings who all eat gluten. I have a spot in a cupboard for my toaster and chopping board, and I have a separate space in my room for snacks I don't want to be touched. I have labelled spreads etc in the fridge and labelled meals/bread in the freezer. My family are quite supportive and I also get involved in some of the cooking, so I know what's touched what. In terms of eating at my fiancé's house...it's harder but I get more involved in the kitchen so I can advocate for myself with his family. They often will cook food separately for me but don't know much about cross contact, so I would recommend being involved in cooking if eating somewhere else. If I'm over somewhere with people I don't know as well, I'll bring a plate or I'll let them know beforehand that I'm bringing my own meal/have eaten beforehand (depending on situation).
Best places to travel as a df coeliac?
Hey team, just wanted to jump on and ask where are some places any of you have traveled to that have had good options for coeliacs (& dairy free)? I'm planning my honeymoon (yay!) and we would love to go to Europe (I'm from NZ), but I'm unsure where the best places/cities would be that are easier to find options to eat. The last place I want to have food anxiety is my honeymoon 😄

@Kiah Stephens I haven't heard about translation cards before, are they something you make or find online?
Youtube workouts
Anyone have any favourites? Looking for good at home workouts- especially involving strength training/dumbbells! I've tried some Sydney Cummings videos and loved them but wondering if others exist out there!
