Vacation & Remote Policies
We are contemplating moving to an unlimited vacation policy as well as adding in a remote work component. Has anyone done this or have experience in it? Our Advisors operate this way now; however, the operations staff does not. The research says it's a positive for everyone. I would like to get real work information from someone. For example: a daughter/son is having a baby and the grandparent wants to either take time off or work remote. What things should we look at for policies? Does anyone have experience in this really working? Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.

A couple thoughts; You will need a clearly defined policy for approving time off requests if you don't have one now. You have to have a firm grasp of your minimum staffing requirements and ensure employees are aware of the limits on time-off requests. As for work from home, one of the biggest challenges is the employee's work space from a compliance and risk management perspective. Where in their home will they work? What technology will they use? They have access to client PII, and it needs to be safeguarded at home just as well as in the office but its more difficult to do. It is great for morale and with proper training it can be just as productive.
Small accounts/advisor de-linking from accounts
Good morning, @Nikki Whittle 's question this week about Tier 4/Servicing level clients has prompted me to do some crowdsourcing. What best practices/procedures are folks using for clients you're no longer looking to service? Example - account that was opened 10 years ago, significant percentage of balance has been distributed. Based on current account balance, advisor can offer little/no value and client could be served having a retail account and not paying management fees. Now, the account falls significantly below portfolio minimum and advisor's business has continued to grow over time. Client isn't engaged/communicative. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, suggestions, letter templates, etc.

A minimum fee can be really helpful to facilitate the discussion between advisor and client which usually leads to the client leaving, or the account becoming retail.
15-Minute Introductory call for prospects
Do any of your offices offer a 15-Minute Introductory call to prospects to vet them? If so, who is doing that call i.e. the advisor, marketing, operations? Can you also share the questions that are asked on that call? TIA

Our process was to schedule a 30-minute call with an advisor to gain insight into the prospect's situation and fit. The call was scheduled by the CSA, who was trained to ask specific questions to give some context to the advisor for the call.
Client Experience
Our firm is focusing this year on ways to elevate our client experience. What are some items your firm does that you believe elevates the overall client experience?

In my experience, little things make a big difference in how someone is greeted when they visit the office, whether coffee is served in a china mug, whether the conference room is clean, and whether the decor is warm and inviting. How the phone is answered and how promptly the all is taken or returned. Put yourself in your client's position and try to "experience" for yourself everything they do. Small, thoughtful gifts send the message that we know you. Make each interaction as personal and pleasant as possible. Big events are nice, but little things really form lasting relationships and loyal clients.
New Hire Interview Tools
Thank you for the New Hire Workflow and tools. Do you have particular interview questions that have been most helpful for you in assessing if the candidate is qualified for the job you are hiring? Not the standing what's your best/least qualities, but that really drill down on whether the applicant is the right fit?

We can create a custom aptitude survey that effectively measures an applicant's level of knowledge and skills for a given position.
