Chronic Inflammation Isnโ€™t Just About Pain: Itโ€™s Whatโ€™s Keeping You Stuck
Youโ€™ve probably heard the term โ€œinflammationโ€ thrown around. But hereโ€™s the truth most people miss- Chronic inflammation is NOT just about joint pain or puffiness. Itโ€™s the silent engine behind fatigue, autoimmunity, stubborn weight, brain fog, mood swings, and even rapid aging. What is Chronic Inflammation? Itโ€™s your bodyโ€™s โ€œemergency alert systemโ€ stuck in the ON position. Instead of turning off after an injury or illness, chronic inflammation lingersโ€”silently damaging your tissues, draining your energy, and disrupting your hormones, sleep, and metabolism. How Does It Show Up? - Fatigue that doesnโ€™t go away with sleep - Flare-ups of autoimmune symptoms - Hormone chaos and blood sugar swings - Stubborn weight that wonโ€™t budge, no matter what you try - Accelerated aging, from wrinkles to memory loss - Digestive issues (yes, bloating, gas, IBSโ€”all connected!) WHY Most People 40+ Are Inflamed (Even If They Donโ€™t Know It) - Diets high in ultra-processed foods, seed oils, and sugar - Poor sleep, blue light at night, and not enough sunshine - Chronic stress and emotional suppression - Lack of movement, or overdoing it with workouts - Toxin overload from plastics, personal care, and the environment - Imbalanced gut bacteria from antibiotics, alcohol, chlorine and more The Good News? You can reverse chronic inflammationโ€”without extreme diets, expensive tests, or giving up your favorite foods.๐ŸŽฏ โœ…Whatโ€™s one symptom or signal your body is giving you that might be related to hidden inflammation?

@Rheece Hartte yes food choices and other lifestyle factors are more important now but getting the formula right is tricky. Just soooooo many variables.

@Rheece Hartte This back issue is a real pain in the butt (no pun intended) and all the way down my right leg into my foot. Iโ€™ve been off most exercise for about a month, except walking and gentle yoga and stretching. Working also with a massage therapist who does myosfascial release. Otherwise, pain management (meds) and waiting on consult with neurosurgeon. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Where are you in the Cycle of Life?
You'll recall these days of the past. In Your 20s: What Youโ€™re told: Eat clean, train hard, burn calories. Whatโ€™s happening: Metabolism is usually at its peak. Hormones like testosterone, estrogen, and growth hormone are working in your favor. Recovery is fast. Sleep is resilient. Why "eat less, exercise more" might seem to work: Calorie deficits typically yield visible results quickly. The risk: Overtraining, nutrient deficiencies, and a fixation on weight vs. strength or energy. Better approach: Fuel your workouts, prioritize strength training, manage stress. >>>>>>>>> In Your 30s: What Youโ€™re told: Time to โ€œbounce backโ€ after kids or career stress. Hit the gym harder! Whatโ€™s happening: Hormonal shifts begin, especially after pregnancy (for women). Stress and poor sleep increase. Lean muscle begins to decline if not maintained. Why this advice backfires: Cortisol rises from overexercising and under-eating, which promotes fat storageโ€”especially belly fat. Better approach: Fuel your workouts, prioritize strength training, manage stress. >>>>>> In Your 40s: What Youโ€™re told: You just need more discipline. Cut carbs. Double the cardio. Whatโ€™s happening: Perimenopause or declining testosterone begin. Insulin sensitivity decreases often due to accumulated assault on the Liver. Recovery slows. Sleep disturbances increase. Why โ€œless food + more movementโ€ fails: It burns out the adrenals, next - tanks thyroid health, and next in line if neither of the first 2 are addressed - worsens hormonal imbalances. Better approach: Eat smarter, not less. Focus on protein, strength, and restoring metabolic flexibility. >>>>> In Your 50s: What Youโ€™re told: Youโ€™re getting olderโ€”itโ€™s just harder now. Accept the belly. Whatโ€™s happening: Estrogen/testosterone plummet.(See above 40's) Muscle loss accelerates (sarcopenia). Joint pain or stiffness becomes common. Why it fails: Under-eating leads to more muscle loss, which lowers metabolism. Over-exercising increases inflammation.

@Rheece Hartte I appear to have a right sciatic nerve compressions at L2/3, L3/4 and L4/5 and L5/S1 with osteophytes due to herniated discs. Cause unknown.

@Rheece Hartte How so? And how to address osteophytes other than surgery?

I struggle with this as Iโ€™m a healthcare worker who tends to put others ahead of herself. And, I have no children so people expect me to be available for them. My boyfriend is very strong-minded and feels I need to prioritize him first. This is my challenge to put my own needs first sometimes.

@Rheece Hartte hmm. Recent, Iโ€™m not sure! Last bloodwork about 3 months ago it was good!
What Worked in Your 20sโ€ฆ Wonโ€™t Work Now
The Game Changed After 40. So Should Your Strategy. In your 20s, you could get away with just working out. In your 30s, maybe just โ€œeating betterโ€ worked. But in your 40s and 50s? It takes both. - Movement + Metabolism. - Nutrition + Nervous System. - Consistency + Compassion. Thatโ€™s the midlife method that works. Letโ€™s talk about it below Which part feels harder for you lately?

Movement and metabolism! I used to be so fit with running, biking and swimming but life demands and now a back injury have set me up to gain the weight I worked so hard to keep off all my life!
