Is high protein overhyped?
Asking for a friend 😅 When did protein become the main character and fiber get ignored? Also, notice how we go in cycles..I remember the Atkins and South Beach Diet phase in the 2000's..and here we are again with the carnivore diet.. What do you think?
Is high protein overhyped?
How are you defining high protein? I think that's part of the problem is the language. Based on research definitions, social media protein fanatics definitions? People definitely stuggle when they don't get enough based on my clinical practice. BUT you show so many examples here of 30g of protein per meal and for many that would be in alignement with enough based on the research. The catch is it's one where the research stndardizes for body size. So it's also just so relative. What is right for me might be high for you if you are smaller then me or low for you if you are much bigger then me :)
AND ALSO I NEVER IGNORE FIBER ... hell yeah on that. The stats are crazy 80% of Canadians (and this is probably true of many others) aren't getting the fiber recommendations 🤯
Six Years, and Grateful
Six years ago, I was recovering from cancer surgery. I had been diagnosed just weeks earlier, and everything moved so fast that there was barely time to catch my breath. It was shocking, disorienting, and honestly surreal. One moment you are living your normal life, and the next, you are learning a whole new vocabulary you never asked to know. This week, six years later, my latest scan came back clear. I wanted to share this here because I know many of us are struggling in different ways. Sometimes it feels big and heavy. Other times it is quieter, like trying to eat a little better, wanting more energy, or wishing our bodies felt more supported than they do right now. I know it can be tempting to wonder whether the effort really matters. For me, I truly believe it does. I was already eating well when I was diagnosed, and everything I did before and after became part of my healing journey. Not as a guarantee or a shield from life, but as a foundation. Eating whole food plant-based, moving my body, prioritizing sleep, learning how to reduce stress. These were not quick fixes. They were daily acts of care, repeated over time. That is why these are the foundations of what I teach. Not because they are trendy, or perfect, or easy, but because I have lived them. And I have seen, in my own life and in so many others, that when you have strong foundations, people can weather an incredible amount. So if you are showing up imperfectly, making small changes, choosing nourishment more often than not, please know that it matters. It always does. Today, I am healthy, grateful, and clear of disease. And I am deeply thankful for the body that carried me here, and for the simple practices that supported me along the way. 💛

Coming Back to the Basics
Something came up in a conversation with a new member today. With so much noise and confusion around health, I always come back to the same few foundations. If you're familiar with the Blue Zones, they are areas in the world with a high number of centenarians. People who in these areas live into their 90s and 100s. And the fascinating thing about these areas is that they all have similar lifestyles. They all: - Eat mostly whole foods, plant-based - Stress less, and enjoy life more - Move naturally, like walking to the market - Are supported by a strong community (like this one) - And they sleep well Which one of these feels most supportive for you right now? And which one feels hard these days?
Easy: Most whole foods plant forward. Hard: sleep cause the youngest. Hoping we are so close to sleeping again. Eldest is a sleeping beauty now and was not before.
@Cindy Noren had that realization last year.... like my cognitive brain is processing it well but im holding it all physically anyways

This started as a simple idea: A space for women who are tired of feeling foggy, overwhelmed, and confused about what to eat — and just want real, plant-based support that actually fits real life. And now there are 100 of you here. 😭♥️ That tells me something important: ✅️ Women are DONE chasing extremes. ✅️ They want steady energy. ✅️ They want food that supports longevity, not burnout. ✅️ They want simple systems they can stick to. If you’re new here, you’re in the right place. If you’ve been here a while, thank you for helping shape this space. Quick question (and please actually answer): 👉 Where are you in the 7 Day Jumpstart right now? #Day 0 – Start Here Comment with: • Day 1–7 if you’re in it • “Starting this week” if you joined and haven’t jumped in yet • “I started but then life happened” (no shame, just honesty) This helps me support you better, and it helps you move out of stuck mode. I’ll be popping into the comments with tips depending on where you’re at. Let’s make this a place people actually use, not just join.
