SOTD - AFTER HOURS REVIEW
Boss Bottled Oud Saffron I'll start by saying this is a fragrance for people who love fragrances, you'd wear this for yourself and not for others, maybe a night out with the boys, but definitely not a date. It's also not what I would call office safe, and definitely not something you would wear in the hopes of attracting a member of the opposite sex. It's definitely not a blind buy and quite polarizing. Now, with that out of way let's talk about this intriguing profile as it shifts between three or four various notes and comes across differently to different people at different times. As it was my first application of the fragrance I went light with the sprays at about a dozen. The opening is unmistakably the left overs in the red solo cup after a long night of beer pong when you're clearing up the mess. As it dries down you get a massive Saffron bomb with a whiff of rose, then it shifts to leather, back to saffron in the spice cabinet, and over to sweet hints of oud and smoke. Beth said it kind of smelled like insect spray or ant killer and gave it a 6.5. Samantha said I smelled like i just left the bar and gave it a 5.0. Molly said it smelled like sweet peaches and gave it an 8.5. Madison said it smelled like beer but could get hints of something fruity. Rhonda, the Irish woman would give it a 10, saying it brought back some great memories of week long benders. 🤣 Yoly didn't like it, giving it 4.0. Magdelina said it smelled of roses on fire mixed with leather, leaving her confused. She didn't like it as a scent but found it interesting and gave it a 6.0. Chau hated it and gave it a 3.0 saying it smelled weird. And finally Shartrice said it was overly sweet giving it a 5.0 Overall the scores were poor. However, the fragrance wasn't generally off putting. Beer was the overwhelming dominant note but it maintained intrigue as it continually offered up other notes all within the various range of saffron. The rose was very light but made appearances a few times throughout the day. The oud did little more than offer up the touch of smokey sweetness that remained in the background. This is absolutely a fragrance for a frag head but not for the general population. I've only got a 10ML decant, but I'd absolutely buy a full bottle if given the chance.
