Building miles
Hi, Herb. In your book you say the long runs should be under 2 hours. When training for a marathon, my long runs are up to 23 miles. Those can take me 6 hours or more. What is your recommendation for long runs when preparing for a marathon?
Running across the Atlantic Ocean m
I’m on a trans-Atlantic cruise over rough waters. I tried MAF running on the treadmill, but the waves made it too treacherous. I went to the running track outside, and it was doable. Using muscles to keep from stumbling left me slower and a little sore, but I’ve been able to be consistent. Looking forward to running on land again.

Good luck with your training..im 74 and have been run/walking for 7 years. Im switching to the MAF low heart tate for my next marathon. Im enjoying the information from Herb, and YouTube podcasts from Dr Maffetone. I still keep up with Galloway runners, but lately have been able to run through my runs and keep my HR in Zone 2.
Re reading your book
Re reading your book is helping me keep on track. I might try lowering my MAF HR after listening to Phil Maffetone YouTube.

@Herb Reeves I was doing 125 and it would blip up past 127 or 129 a couple of times in a one hour run. Now I’m trying 115 and it blips up to 120 a few times. I need to start a little slower.
