Blood tests - Antibodies
Hey lovelies, i am curious- what do your bloods show in terms of antibodies?! Are they 0? Undetectable? below 1? I’ve heard and read so many conflicting things 😭 What does this mean? active? remission?
Blood tests - Antibodies
I’ve had the same question for a long time… answers are not really clear. What I understood is that the levels are never 0, but have to be below certain quantity (in my analysis it says that the “normal” result should be under 5.00 FLU for Ac. an Transglutaminasa IgA suero, which I don’t know how to translate, but I think that it depends on the unit it follows, in your case u/mL or g/L, your results should be somewhere inside the range shown on your analysis). This would mean that there is no active coeliac disease, which doesn’t mean that you’re not coeliac but that you are following the Gluten Free diet and therefore your body is not reacting to any gluten. If the results are higher than the reference range there could be different options: if it’s near to the range, it could be a weak positive, which could be because of just being coeliac or because you may be ingesting some gluten due to cross-contamination without noticing; if the results are very high it means you’ve eaten gluten regularly and your antibodies are reacting to it. Taking a look at your pics, your latest results seem to be inside the reference ranges (not sure what the different transglutaminase and IgA are and the units but I guess that when they are inside those parameters they are ok), which I guess would mean that you are doing the GF diet correctly. Either way, information about this is confusing. This is what my doctor told me the last time I got my analysis done (about 6 months ago), but to be sure, I recommend you to ask a specialist.
@Jess Cripps I understand you, it’s horrible. Try to find some gluten-free specialised doctor, for me it’s the only thing that’s worked, having someone who has studied the disease and that really knows about it is important, but also so difficult to find. Look for good references and make sure that they know about coeliacs, many digestive doctors don’t know anything about it.

@Angela Dideriksen Hi!! I see myself reflected in your message! I was diagnosed at 6 (in 2011) and I’m 20 now… so pretty similar situations. Also, congrats on your wedding!! I’m not soon-to-be married but I’m also looking for a change in my habits (mainly food and sports). Hope we can support each other in this community!
@Olivia Boyd Hi!! I’m also 20 and I’ve been Gluten Free for almost 15 years now. I also try not to eat dairy because it seems that going GF wasn’t enough… I’ve struggled with iron and vitamins too… Anyway, if you ever want to talk, here I am!!
