Company Shirts
Hello @Justin Zelenak and everyone — I hope you’re all well. I’m looking for an easy, affordable way to put my business logo on shirts and make a few pieces in-house. I’m starting door-to-door outreach next week and want to look professional without overspending. Specifically, I’m looking for: A simple program (and compatible transfer materials) to make company T-shirts. Budget-friendly options for business cards, letterhead, and envelopes with templates. Recommendations for shirts/polos/hats (software + transfer paper/printer settings). Thank you....JT Torres!

Follow-up: DIY polos for a professional look Hello everyone, Following up on my earlier message, I’m looking for a simple, budget-friendly way to make a couple of branded polo shirts so I can look presentable and professional in the field. I agree with David: I’ve spent a lot on marketing materials in the past, and I’d rather not go that route again. I’m hoping for a program, template, or materials I can use to put this together myself. If you have recommendations (e.g., iron-on transfers, sew-on patches, or small-run options), I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for your time and guidance. I'm just making a couple of polo shirts in house that wont break the wallet. JT
Guidance on Obtaining a USDOT Number
Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experience with registering for a USDOT number for Transportation/Medical Currier or General Freight, etc.. I’ve attempted the application on the FMCSA site several times, but I keep running into issues toward the end and can’t seem to complete the process. I’ve tried contacting DOT directly, but I wasn’t able to get through to a live person, and the support I received didn’t resolve my problem. Years ago I was able to register for a DOT number without much trouble, so I’m not sure what I’m missing this time. If anyone has gone through this recently and can share some guidance or tips, I would greatly appreciate it. I’ll be stepping away from the computer for the next couple of days, but I plan to return to the application on Saturday. If I don’t respond right away, please know I’ll follow up as soon as I’m back online. Going camping, need to decompress and surround myself by nature for a couple of days and come back energized to complete this task. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. JT
Learning about reading site plans an writing proposals
I’ve recently been getting more requests to submit proposals for scanning work. I’ve been learning to read site plans and schematics, which has been a steep but valuable learning curve. I’ve been watching videos and leaning on my field experience to figure out the time and resources each job will require. Where I’m still unsure is whether my proposals are hitting the mark. I’ve seen some examples online, but I’m not confident if mine are clear, complete, and presented in a way that decision-makers will take seriously. For those of you with experience reviewing or sending proposals, I’d appreciate any tips on what you look for when deciding whether to approve or accept a bid. What are the key points that make a proposal stand out to you? If you’re open to it, I’d be happy to send you a sample privately so you can give me feedback. Any advice from people who have been on either side of the process would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jordan, I’ve spent 20+ years writing proposals in the environmental remediation and demolition fields. I’m happy to share insights, and I have a few proposal and contract templates I’ve used in the past that I can pass along if you’d like. Keep in mind there for the environmental field but it can be easily be revised to address your industry. JT Torres

Hello Jordan, I should of been more clear and thank you Walt, I stand corrected and Thanks for the advice. You’re right every RFP has its own rules, and we’ve got to follow them exactly, Agreed!!! Templates can help me get started, but I always adjust to what the agency asks for. On the “know/like/trust” point, I agree that relationships matter a lot. Even so, I’ve seen solid, compliant proposals win without a long history, it’s just tougher. Where I’d add a small nuance is on templates, I treat them as a starting framework, not a substitute for reading the RFP. A good baseline template can speed up development and ensure the core sections (Offer + Value - Scope + Terms + Closing) aren’t missed—but we still customize to the agency’s required order, page limits, sections, etc. I think it obviously depends on the industry, the RFP and how formal the agencies or private companies want them to be. Thanks, Mark. I think it’ll come together. What really fires me up is giving vets who haven’t worked in a while a chance again. Seeing them land that first job and get back into the workforce, that’s going to be powerful. The bigger mission is stepping into urgent medical transport, like organs and critical runs. That kind of work gives me, and a lot of us, a real sense of purpose again...You have yourself a great evening Mark!!!
