9/30 Business Talk
I recorded a message about sales and will post it in the community. There were no other people on the call so I closed the event. See you all on the next one.

I consider myself fortunate that getting started wasn’t too difficult financially, but the biggest challenge by far has been marketing. In construction, no amount of ads or online campaigns will get you in the door it’s 99.9% networking. That means going out, meeting people face-to-face, shaking hands, sending emails, showing up on job sites, and proving your value through your work. The second biggest hurdle has been all the administrative and “secretary” work I never expected to handle things like paperwork, proposals, and documentation that are just as critical as the work in the field. As for the time commitment, that was never a surprise to me. I knew from the start that if I wanted to succeed, I would need to put my all into it, and that’s exactly what I’ve done.
Learning about reading site plans an writing proposals
I’ve recently been getting more requests to submit proposals for scanning work. I’ve been learning to read site plans and schematics, which has been a steep but valuable learning curve. I’ve been watching videos and leaning on my field experience to figure out the time and resources each job will require. Where I’m still unsure is whether my proposals are hitting the mark. I’ve seen some examples online, but I’m not confident if mine are clear, complete, and presented in a way that decision-makers will take seriously. For those of you with experience reviewing or sending proposals, I’d appreciate any tips on what you look for when deciding whether to approve or accept a bid. What are the key points that make a proposal stand out to you? If you’re open to it, I’d be happy to send you a sample privately so you can give me feedback. Any advice from people who have been on either side of the process would be greatly appreciated.

It's more like I am writing proposals cause I don't necessarily bid on projects. From both of your experience does the format matter ? Or as long as you have the important information that's what they like.

Organizing Contacts
I am starting to build a strong network with contacts from different companies including people I have worked with and others I will be working with soon. Storing everything in my phone is no longer enough. Does anyone have tips on how they keep their business contacts organized? Are there any tools or platforms you recommend? I would really appreciate any advice.
