Just a quick follow up to my other post, I wanted to share which machine I’m going with as I work on redoing my home gym: I’ve been looking at getting a machine for years and after finally getting serious, finally pulled the trigger on this one after countless hours of searching and review watching. While this machine is not out yet, the reviews for the last model are glowing. https://maxumfitness.us/product/maxum-x3-smith-machine-functional-trainer-squat-rack-home-gym/ Why I chose it: 1. Has one of the heaviest dual independent weight stacks at 220 pounds each. 2. While the cable pulley ratio is 2:1, you can set them up to 1:1. 3. Ability to add weight plates to weight stacks 4. Front uprights are 3x3 with 1” holes which is standard for commercial grade and makes third party accessories easier to source 5. The counterbalanced smith bar 6. The ability to remove the counterbalance 7. The sheer amount of attachments that come with the machine 8. The pulley arm style allow for a wide range of movement and additional workouts (a new version is coming out which will allow for vertical adjustment of the entire arm as well. Once they come out in late November- mid December, MAXUM will offer all existing customers the upgrade at cost) 9. The squat bar added strap protection 10. Free shipping and no tax on the pre-order 11. I’m sure there’s more but the reviews and how the company listened to feedback sold me. Anyway, hope this helps anyone on the fence about a smith 5:1 machine. I compared multiple machines from at least a dozen other brands. If you have any questions, I’m happy to help if I can.
