Logic here - mostly because I upgraded from GarageBand and it was just a natural progression. I find it to be super intuitive and the interface feels very natural. Plugins? More than I know what to do with- but standouts are Spitfire, Heavyocity, Sonuscore, Orange Tree, and Kompose Audio (great atmospheric pads) and a slew of drum plugs- I’ve set up a number of templates in logic for a different genres for film composing. I’ll tweak and update them when needed. Working this way prevents eating up hours of time scrolling through thousands of presets.

I'm working on my own music alongside you. We're doing this together. I just thought I'd remind everyone that's the case lol... and practice what I preach! So here I am asking for feedback. https://s.disco.ac/qnkhejohjcyw PHANTOM: This is a song that at this point is over 10 years old that I wrote with a guy named Vlad Holiday. It was my first proper co-writing session when I moved to New York and original, which is the first song in the playlist, never landed anywhere, and my skills since then have dramatically improved. The second version I started during covid that's a string remake of the original (still planning to get vocals on it)... but I've never found the right male vocalist to get on it. I'm considering singing it myself, although I'd need atleast a week of warm-ups and concentrated practice to get my singing chops up to snuff for this. Do I tackle it myself? Do I try to find another vocalist? Do I do both versions, the string version and an updated version of the more electronic downtempo vibe? The OG vibe worked great for 2010 but needs to be updated for 2026. Originally, the reference was Mickey Echo, if you all remember him (writer of Stay by Rihanna). Who's the reference for this now? This is one of the songs that I'm digging out of the crates and working on refinishing. Would it be helpful for me to break down my process as I work on finishing this in a video that I would share with you all? Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate you all. So grateful for the community that's building and growing here.

I dig it . . nice retro vibe . . . Love the piano breakdown and then the build up as it comes back in. As far as references . . . vocally, my mind drifts to Owl City - "Fireflies" - the tempo is different on Phantom, but the vocal timbre on "Fireflies" could serve as an inspiration.

Nice work Glenn! - - Yes - - The mix just needs more separation — clean up some low-mids, pan things a bit wider, and pull back the overall reverb so everything isn’t washing together. . I don't think the drums should be louder — they need more separation, less reverb, and more top-end so they can cut through - - I liked when the side stick sound came in at 1:08 - it cut through nicely. For the drums , try EQ → compression → transient shaping, and pull the reverb back — the drums should open up nicely - For the vocals, Cut low-mid muddiness, boost presence around 4k, add a little top end — and pull the reverb back so the vocal sits more upfront. That was my east coast feedback . . . . my LA feedback: Nice, we'll do lunch.
🎤Check out the first ep of the Sync Vault Podcast!🎤
@Dawn Dineen reminded me that the podcast is overdue for release, so I did a quick and dirty edit of it yesterday afternoon, and I'm posting it this morning. It's a great convo with a great guy so I hope you all get some value out of it. The video is still unlisted, so please do not share beyond the community. I will be wrapping up editing this week and officially launching it asap so be on the look out. If you have any feedback of how this can be improved (bad edits, timing, flow, etc.) please let me know and 'll be sure to fix it up! Let me know what you think of my interview with Jim Leavitt from House of Sync.

Great stuff Glenn! Thank you for having Jim on this podcast. One of the highlights for me, was the discussion of whether we are writing what we “think” libraries want to hear rather than writing what’s in our heart and soul. On a minor note, the sync (no pun intended) seems a little off on you, but not on Jim. I know you said it was a “quick and dirty” edit, so I’m sure you can easily fix this. Great job!
Disco playlist feedback
Here are some hiphop beats ive made. For a breif stint i worked with hip hop aritsts. None of these are with any other arists so clearing them should be easy. Is there such a thing as too many tags? Should playlists be named by genre or mood of the songs? Any feedback helps thank you! https://s.disco.ac/zdxguvdydosz

Nice work! - - - In Your Face - has an interesting mix . . . . a very distant sound - like the instruments are far away - dream like . . . then suddenly at 1:26 there's a swell that comes right to the front of the mix - right in your face - - great contrast at that moment. I thought Glenn's previous comments were spot on overall.
Another Forward!
Excited to let you know I just got another Taxi forward! I replied to a listing for INVESTIGATIVE DOCUMENTARY INSTRUMENTALS. As the brief said "This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor with this Library and become one of their go-to Composers. The team behind this Library knows the industry inside and out, with lots of experience placing music in Documentaries, Commercials, TV, and Radio. This is your chance to get your music in front of big audiences." Well, we will see!! Thanks to @Dawn Dineen for being extremely gracious to give good hard critiquing of the piece, and also to @Glenn Macrae for similar guidance on this one. In case you want to hear "Searching for Evidence", here it is: https://s.disco.ac/vcafaytgnlsi
