Grinding with purpose; systematically working to improve the portfolio so I can follow my friend @Dawn Dineen 's lead with contacting sync libraries, agents, and supervisors by July.

First off I wanna say I greatly appreciate the feedback from the first post, I applied the necessary changes and overall I feel as if my track is that much closer to being finished. I am new to this style of music and have only been producing it for a few months now. I have experimented with ideas before but I’ve never actually gave it enough effort. Most ideas got abandoned in the wasteland of no return. However I am here to show the new and improved version of my track. I really analyzed the feedback and applied it to the track. I emphasized more energy towards the second half of the track. I decided that the first part of the track is more of the player searching and discovering. It feels pretty open and honestly I couldn’t quite figure out if it was missing something still or just over thinking. I really thought about the direction the track is heading and I opted in for a more action packed second half to signify a tense more dramatic feel almost as if the player has stumbled around the bosses lair. Again class I am here for help and feedback though I feel my track is about 80% complete. Be honest with me and help me elaborate on new ideas to help finish this first segment. I feel like now that the volume is up some elements are more apparent. Where can I go from this? Should I add more melodies to help fill in some space or add more ambiance or texture? How does the mix sound? Does it help convey the theme and story a bit better? Or does it still feel like our hero is lost astray? https://s.disco.ac/azrkuuubfpbx

@Kaleb Blackard I love the use of authentic instruments and being true to the region. Very nice. Love how you add changes (and panning) on the percussion. The effect at ~1:32 is terrific. Really enjoyed those vocals. Overall quality was great. What is the intended sync application? I would guess it's a cinematic underscore piece, meant to help build a scene while there is dialog over the top, or to add backbone to a non-dialog scene (as you said, someone wandering around a scene...) In my opinion, put this on the shelf because it is "sync-done" (meaning, it is a good, sound piece and when you find a brief or opportunity for it, you will probably be pulling it off the shelf and making changes on the fly to fit the specific situation anyway).

@Kaleb Blackard However, Glenn probably has a more appropriate comment about that than me. After all, he is the one with a lot of syncs to his name! I, on the other hand, have zero!

What's up everyone. I recently submitted a three tracks to Pond5. 1 R&B 1 Hip Hop and 1 Lofi. They rejected me😒😮‍💨. But this is the message the sent me with the reasoning. "Thanks for taking the time to thoughtfully prepare and send in your submission for review! After careful consideration, unfortunately, these tracks are not the right fit for Pond5 based on current trends and user feedback from our Buyer and Creative Community. Our Audio Curatorial process is engineered to carefully consider new and emerging submissions that will ultimately drive sales and create exposure while elevating opportunities for our Contributor community. In full transparency, we cannot accept everything, especially if your submissions may already have similar sounding versions currently within the Marketplace. As a kind note, please keep in mind our Curators may reject submissions if they believe the assets will not have a significant impact within our Marketplace or may underperform. Currently, Pond5 has more than 6,000,000 Music and Sound Effects tracks covering a wide range of genres. Having too much of any given genre or style often leads to an ineffective user search experience. Please know that a wide range of subjective and objective criteria was used to make a thoughtful and comprehensive decision". Since it says their "process is engineered". It lead me to believe it Ai doing the reviewing. Is that true?

I'll play off of what @Glenn Macrae said... if you look around Pond 5 you should be able to find where they publish a listing of what they are looking for the most. They publish this each month. This might help you find out what you want to write to "fit in" to what they seek now, as opposed to trying to insert what you already write into their catalog. If you can't find it let me know. I have stuff on Pond 5, and I can log in and d/l that listing for you. It changes monthly.

@Tyree Newton lol! Yeah, I thought the gaps they identified in their catalog were way too narrow for me to write to... I seem to remember something about e-polka in Turkish or Uzbeki or something like that... extreme niche.
Feedback for a Pop Ballad?
Hey all! Looking for feedback for my first finished track since we've started in the Sync Accelerator! I'm a little nervous sharing for the first time, but I'm ready! This track was heavily inspired by soft pop/piano ballads by Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lewis Capaldi, and. could use your feedback to help me finish it. My To Do List still includes: -Timing Vocal Doubles -Ear Candy/Transitions/Creating small moments that keep the track moving -Mixing! Right now I've got levels roughly where I want them but would like some feedback before I start mixing. Right now, my biggest struggles are with drums and of course vocals. Do the drums feel sort of flat? Are the background vocals distracting? I feel like I'd like to add more layers but don't want to overdo it or take away from the main melody in a ballad like this. Thanks for any feedback ya'll might have! https://s.disco.ac/qlehcesqkkqm

hi @Jennifer Crowe . Sorry I was so slow to listen and respond, but I had house guests for a few days. Terrific song - love it! 'After glow' is a powerful phrase, and everyone can identify with it. I concur with most of the comments already expressed, but especially with the comment about bringing the full drums/build you have around 3:20 earlier, maybe even around 2:19'ish. I'd even say consider going full snare rather than a side/stick sound. In my opinion it lifts and builds emotion under your great voice, even earlier, which helps lead to a different sort of climax/conclusion. A more subtle approach is to bring in the drums as you have them, but at something like 2:19, and then at 3:20 go to a ride cymbal with a (soft) full snare to even further build the drama and emotion of the rhythm back (while also beefing up the bass accompaniment 3:20). You have to be careful the rhythm track doesn't overshadow your vocals, but that is something you fix in the mix. Also, and this is just my extremely humble opinion, I'd like a louder mix. Might just be my half-open back headphones, but I love your voice and wanted to hear it a little 'hotter'. Final comment, I also hear a cello... for example, a subtle, elegant cello ride around 1:35 (after "let you"), in-between vocals... would be really tasteful addition.
Question....
Whats everyone's thoughts on sync agencies that charge you to submit to a sync opportunity? I just recently seen a sync opportunity that may fit perfectly for a track I plan on releasing in May. I was excited to submit until I seen that you must pay a small sync fee to submit. Am I wrong but I immediately get turned off whenever I see this lol, hence my excitement subsides. I have no problem investing in myself and what I require for resources.. But as I said in a previous comment, all these expenses seem to gouge creatives left and right and offer nothing in return.... Is this a wrong attitude when it comes to sync lol.. should I pay everytime I submit to an opportunity... Its exhausting lol... Rant over lol

@Jamie Fontaine-Ellis It's $199/year, $5 for each track you submit.
