My favorite thing when Reselling.
My favorite thing is to list an item and have it sell within 24 hours of listing it. This tells me I am sourcing the right items. Some may say, "you priced it too low if it sold in 24 hours". I say, I bought the right item, at the right price, listed it correctly to get eyes on it, and priced it at a price I was happy to sell it at. Do I ever take a closer look at the item to see if I missed something in my pricing? Sure I do on occasion, but not very often. More often, I think, how can I do this with more items. How about you? Do you regret when something sells quickly?

I like to look at how Im doing with my sourcing by 'where' in my inventory I'm typically selling from. So all of my inventory bins are labeled by the item SKU numbers. Those in the lower range I know for certain are well over a year old because they came from POrtland to Florida with me. UGH. But everytime I think about just dumping those clothes, I sell something from one of those old bins and I give myself a good laugh. I sell mostly from bins that are since the beginning of 2025, so that tells me that I am doing a better job of sourcing as time goes by. And those items that I list and then they sell within days or weeks, I give myself a pat on the back that YES Ive sourced desireable items and they've sold already!

First AI testing
As most on here know by now, I have two eBay stores, and often use them to do different trials and test for changes. From doing research with AI, it looks like I should change my listing strategies. In my smaller store, I am going to begin listing three days per week mainly. I do plan on listing one or two items per day on the other days though. On my second store I will continue listing daily, but will change quantities from an even amount per day, to a mix of quantity of listings per day as AI has suggested. I will let you know over the next few weeks of my results.

WOW Wes thats awesome statistics. I'm very curious to see how this plays out. I wonder what changing quantities of listings per day has to do with the algorithm?

What are Selvage (Selvedge) Jeans?
Selvage jeans (also spelled selvedge) are a type of denim distinguished by the way the fabric is woven. The term “selvage” comes from “self-edge,” which refers to the tightly woven band on the edge of the denim fabric that prevents it from unraveling or fraying. Key Features of Selvage Jeans: 1. Woven on Traditional Shuttle Looms: Selvage denim is made on old-style shuttle looms that produce a narrower fabric (usually around 30 inches wide) with clean, finished edges. These looms are slower and more labor-intensive, contributing to the higher cost of selvage denim. 2. Clean, Finished Edges: The edge (or “self-edge”) is often visible on the outseam when the jeans are cuffed. The selvage edge often has a colored thread—commonly red, but it varies by manufacturer. 3. Higher Quality Fabric: Selvage denim is usually denser, heavier, and more durable than regular denim. It’s often considered premium and associated with artisanal or heritage denim brands. 4. Raw or Unwashed: Many selvage jeans are also raw denim, meaning they haven’t been pre-washed or distressed. This allows the jeans to develop unique fades and wear patterns based on the wearer’s habits. 5. Often Made in Japan or the USA: Japan is known for producing some of the world’s best selvage denim, with brands like Iron Heart, Samurai, and Pure Blue Japan. Why People Love Selvage Denim: - Durability: Long-lasting and holds up over time. - Aesthetics: Clean look when cuffed, with the selvage edge visible. - Personalization: Raw selvage denim molds to the wearer, creating custom fades and whiskers. - Craftsmanship: Associated with traditional techniques and quality materials. If you run across this type of fabric you can feel the difference. Also, these jeans will bring a premium.

Sourcing Priority. What is your’s?
When sourcing what is your priority? Mine is: 1. Size 2. Brand 3. Price 4. Condition This came up yesterday when I was sourcing at my favorite thrift store. I was being checked out by the store manager. I asked him what was the priority for pricing their items. It was just the opposite from my sourcing order: 1. Condition 2. Brand 3. Size I found this most interesting. So, what is your sourcing priority?

Brand, price, size, condition. I think you gotta look at price at the beginning of your search, since GW and many other thrift stores are getting ridiculous with their pricing. Once I started including selling clothing to my reselling business about 4 years ago, thats when I realized how so many people are actually brand saavy, which is a good thing for us as resellers. Brand recognition helps us sell. I personally still dont shop for myself specifically by brand. When sourcing, Ive always shopped mainly for the mid brands, not the low end mall/walmart brands but the next level up. Ive moved away from brands like Izod (which AI calls a 'decent' option lol) and Lucky Brand (which AI says is 'generally considered a low-value brand). Thanks Jerry for turning us all on to AI !!
