LED Light Decision dilemma
@Mike Hicks @Jessica Hicks Does this look right? So the table shows that dual T5's are more expensive however you do get better overlap and a bit more light per the "N Bar S" video... Basically it appears the decision point is if the additional $7.50 of 2xT5's are worth the overlap and additional umol/light. Does this look correct? *Edited multiple times to account for DLI (Daily Light Interval) which helps me understand why we need to have the lights on for a certain amount of time based on the light "output) of the type of lights we run in our racks. The DLI units for microgreens for example are 6-12 but you can see how that bumps up for leafy greens and flowering...
LED Light Decision dilemma

@Jessica Hicks I looked all over their site but did not reach out to them. I figured it was better to get my own measurements and just use my anecdotal results from prior growing combined with my measurements of the Barrina lights and go from there with my planning. For example knowing that I have a DLI of 2.7 @ 12 hours for pinkish lights using 12" shelf height Radish and other microgreens do just fine. Now you tell me using 2 T8's at 9" for Basil works I can go back and measure to find DLI @12hours etc... This is the best I have right now as I have not found any published numbers for each variety of microgreens. I did go back and forth with someone in a facebook group that basically blasts their microgreens with a ton of lights really close but uses a loose logic for time the lights are on. There does seem to be a stretch(length of microgreens) factor with amount of time the lights are on and how much light you are giving the plants but I do not know where to start on that other than experimenting.

@Ramon Amorim when I first started growing I just used the rule of thumb that everyone threw out there and that was one foot shelves and a single t8 And that works automagically.... Now when I started digging in deeper because I'm setting up a new grow room I started understanding more about everything. #1 lights give off a different amount of ppfd at different heights with most light directly underneath them and diminishing the further you get out in the "cone" that the bulb is projecting. #2 The best way to really know what your light is doing is to verify how much light it's throwing off at a certain height that's why I purchased a meter to validate/get true data #3 PPFD at a certain height is not the only part of the calculation. DLI is the other part of the calculation That's the daily light interval or how long you're throwing the PPFD at your plants. This makes it more fun frankly, because you can mix different light strengths with higher amperage or lower amperage (amperage of you power circuit) and longer or shorter lights on periods.... So if you have a limited amperage that you could work with in your grow area you can have different lights on and lights off schedules. For different racks, shelves or however you segment your growing area. I hope this helps
Worm food :)
I also have a raised bed garden where I grow tomatoes and the like for my wife . I recently started putting my used tray soil and cuttings around the base of the tomatoes and other plants , this brings worms to the area to dine and aerates the soil and goes right back to the ground . What is everyone doing with their tray waste ?
