Hey Christian — watercress is a fussy crop. Cold room vs warm room usually isn’t the actual problem. Hold it around 65–72°F. Use coco or a light soil and keep the surface evenly damp the first 4–5 days. Damp, not sitting in a puddle. Try this on one tray: - Soak the seed 4–8 hours - Sow it fairly dense, light cover or none - Blackout with a little weight for 3–4 days - Then under lights, humidity up, and a small fan so it doesn’t slime If it still won’t pop, put 10 seeds between damp paper towels for a couple days. If most of those don’t sprout, it’s the seed lot. A lot of farms skip true watercress and grow upland cress or curly cress instead. Same peppery bite, much more reliable. Run one tray that way and tell me if it’s poor germination or just weak growth. We’ll tighten it from there. Mike

I’d run a quick test with 10 seeds between damp (not dripping) paper towels at 68–72°F. If fewer than 8 sprout in 3–5 days, ask the supplier for a replacement lot. For the tray, sow on a moist medium, press the seeds in, and cover only lightly (or use a blackout dome/second tray with a little weight). Keep it evenly damp, not wet; I wouldn’t add hydrogen peroxide. Once you try that test, let me know how many sprout and we’ll narrow it down.
