Afternoon switch - Erebus Ascent 39mm
This was the watch I was meant to wear today and then the water works happened and the Mudmaster was called into action. Better late than never I guess.

I'll bet that blue "pops" even more in person than it does in the photo
What a treat!
I just had this beauty on my bench. It belongs to a friend- didn’t know if it could be fixed. Turns out it was just a depleted capacitor. Took me longer to set the perpetual calendar than it did to change the capacitor.
What a treat!

I can imagine creating entertainment by asking an impatient friend to try their hand at setting something like that 😉 Looks cool though

Cool dial for sure! The case reminds me of a torx bit for specialty screws, and the way it steps down to the lugs reminds me of the faceted look of the stealth F-117 which feels funny on a look that's going to get noticed.

I've been wearing one more days than not for over a year. I've got a NATO strap on it most days and put that wonderful leather strap on for other-than-casusl occasions. The hour sliding ring can be used for elapsed time, and otherwise works like a GMT most of the time and I use the minutes ring almost as one might use a chronograph, for elapsed time. Mine gains about 10s/day, and the poor resale doesn't bother me at all. I love it's character and have woven a few narratives about this tribute to a "failed" tool watch into my professional and personal philosophies.
Mars watches?
A thought occured to me, seemingly from nowhere, that this might be a fun place to ask: does anyone have a Mars watch? A day on Mars is 36 minutes longer than on Earth, and I've heard that some at and around NASA and JPL who work with rovers get modified watches to maintain a sense of the Martian day where their equipment is operating. Does anyone have one? I don't imagine them looking very distinctive, so much as seeming to 90 seconds every hour (like a slow prank).

Looks like I've managed to get you all in the same "what's this cool thing really like" boat - evidently we don't have any NASA/JPL mission folks in here. It seems like, with a quick local time check for a rover, it wouldn't be hard in digital/software (maybe not hard to slow mechanical timekeeping - aside from maybe feeling very wrong - to match). Glad to have enlisted you into my unicorn hunt!
