Spare parts
So, I've bought this watch online, a Longines Golden Wing. (Picture one) Only then I noticed it's missing a golden bezel. Also the wristband is pretty snuggy tight fitting. Until now I have not found any spareparts (I could not find a replacement bezel and a single piece of the wriststrap costs arround $ 70.-). (I have paid arround $ 180.- for the watch) Would you buy a second watch, just for the replacement parts? The second picture is the cheapest I have found so far. Offered as working, but from an eastern europe country, I'm cautious (on ebay with good ratings, but still). (It would be arround $150.- incl. shipping) -would you buy a second watch? -would you wait to find a cheaper one that's sold as non-working? -where else can I look for bezels if not on second hand platforms? -can a bezel be handmade? who does this? -and if the wristband is tight but symetrical, is it ok to add just one link, making it asymetrical? Sorry for the many questions. The watch still looks nice, but knowing it's missing a part is bugging me.

The bracelet can be asymmetrical. In fact, it’s often preferable to remove more links from the 6:00 side. I have a watch that was tight and I had no extra links. I replaced the clasp with an on-the-fly adjustable and was able to get a few extra millimetres of length from the adjustment in the clasp.

I was sitting in the backyard last night with my beautiful wife and we started talking watches. She has a similar affliction (spelled INTEREST) 😎 I had mentioned that I was really looking at buying a Vortic watch. I had toured their facility in April of this year and met the owner at it really got me intrigued. Since then I have come to hear that the owner had a stroke at 34 yrs old and will take up to 3 years before he is able to resume where he was. I know his wife has taken control of the day to day and they have other watchmakers there building watches, but I was thinking about purchasing a watch both to satisfy my desire to have one, but to also help them in my small way. That being said my wife and I picked 3 that we liked, but because of other events in our life she spelled (We) decided to wait a little bit maybe a month or 2. She made very valid points 🙏 That however, didn't stop me thinking about my short list of watches. They are pictured here and in no particular order. They cover a variety of price points, obviously the Omega Moon Watch has a very soft spot with me, but that will be way down the road if ever. I'm coming to the group to tell me these are all horrible choices and I should be committed or more seriously about your thoughts on each based on what you know about me and my collection so far. I'll call out @Warren Money @G R @James Milson @Robert Meyers @Chad Smith @Brett Sutton @Justin Tillery @Gunny Khan @David Denham Jr & @Oscar D Specifically but really want to hear from you all! And of course if you think I should have something else PLEASE tell me that too! 😎

I like the Alpinist a lot. I am drawn to quirky and off beat styles. The Alpinist intrigues me.

I have many watches that have both. I gravitate towards the metal bracelet (however, I happen to be wearing a watch on a leather strap)

Such a classic!
What's your number?
Hoping this can be a fun little post, all you need to do is post the number of watches that you have in your collection. Let's add them up and see how many watches are out there. I have 32

Fifty-Eight. About a dozen are restored vintage Timex that I don’t wear. This includes my first watch (I’ve had since I was six), my watch I wore through Jr. High, the one I wore through high school, and the one I wore through university.

@Carlos Lozano Your question forced me to verify. I actually do by have Jr. High. That watch was a Waltham PAC Man. Not a cartoon faceplate tribute to Pac Man- it had a joystick and played the game! From there, I switched to an LCD analog watch. I believe it was the Casio AE 11W, but it’s hazy trying to remember the details. The watches shown were my next watches. The Atlantis came on a rubber/resin strap. I got this in 1988 and wore it for a long time. I had a number of straps including a neoprene strap I used for windsurfing and during my dive certification . The Timex came closer to the end of school. It came on a bracelet- a jangly bracelet and I have nicer watches on a bracelet, so I decided to put it on a NATO for more of a field look.
