For traditional deer hunting, do you guys prefer hunting a tree stand or from the ground? What is most effective?

I never understood why people are one or the other. My brother and I debated this for YEARS. I hunt deer where the deer are. You can have the greatest stand but if the deer aren't regularly with in an effective kill range for you, what good is that stand?? I guess it is good if you want to only watch deer or torture your self while you hunting. If I have a great ditch crossing that is in the center of an ag field (no trees just scrub on both sides of the ditch) that is really active, I've dug pit blinds and used a ghillie suit. If I am hunting in big tree woods and hunting an active scrape line, if I can get in a tree, I will. Tree stands, saddles, box blinds, ghillie suits, and pit blinds are all examples of tools in your toolbox to hunt deer. Don't limit yourself.
Ethical Question for everyone
Last night, I attended a training to be a leader in an organization that connected hunters with farmers to help the farmers deal with deer damage. The organization leads hunts in fall and winter on that farm for people who are new to hunting. Only does are being harvested. The hunters are allowed to harvest two. Rifles are used. They can take one with them and donate the other to hunters against hunger. They can donate both if they choose. It is a great way to get hunters in the field and helping farmers as well Part of the training for the leaders was to go on a "shoot" on the farm. Granted, pulling the trigger was optional. It is part of the package deal for the farmer. The target was 25 does to be harvested. No fawns were to be shot. The temperature was about 90deg but they had a cooler trailer for the harvested does. All of the does harvested were donated. I understand that deer do a lot of damage to fields. The farmer that farms the field around my house expects to loose 30% of the harvest to animals. I am curious what everyone's opinion about the "shoot". Would you participate in the shoot? Why? Thanks for sharing your opinion.

@Richard Davis Id be really bothered if they just let them lay. This program definitely had their stuff together. Only does and they had a powered cooler trailer for the harvest. They did not want any deer to go to waste.

@Bryce McCormick Sorry, I didn’t make that clear. I was more asking about the shoot that occurred last weekend.

Similar to Joe, Friday and Saturdays are family time for me. Sun or Mon would be best for me.
Adhesive
When fletching feathers what is everyone using? Glue tape?

I switch to the tape a couple years ago. Getting the dispenser was what changed it for me. Like Grant, i put a drop of glue front and back of the fletching. Old glueing habits die hard. Lol.

Love to bow hunt! I started with an old Bear long bow and harvested my first rabbit with it over 40 years ago. Im still hooked...
