Here’s what I would prioritize in this order: 1. Lose weight and build a good physique 2. Get a good grooming (hair, skin, teeth, nails) routine 3. Tailor your existing clothes to fit well 4. Upgrade shoes 5. Upgrade jackets 6. Shirts and pants 7. Fragrance 8. Whatever else interests you: watches, jewelry, hats, erc
What goes with tan coloured shoes?
I have an awesome pair of tan coloured Derbies. However, all my pants are dark colours. Black, navy, and choc brown chinos. Black and dark blue jeans. Everytime I try the tan shoes with these it just feels... wrong.

I agree navy chinos will look great. I had the same reaction the “it doesn’t look right” but I think it’s just because it’s different. For a more casual look, light or medium stone wash denim. Also, in the warmer months, linen pants in olive or blue.
Heading for a nervous breakdown
Gentlemen, pardon me if this is not the right platform. Based on all your experience and coming from different walks of life, I need some advise. It has been a very tough year, my wife was diagnosed with cancer, went through surgery and chemo, now a waiting game to March until the next scan. Work has become toxic and just in general, I lost my purpose, no longer interested in the things I used to love, small chores feels like climbing Mount Everest. I have become withdrawn, and prefer silence and solitude, of course this has a negative affect on my marriage, friendships and have become depressed. Feels like just another day, dragging myself out of bed, giving myself a pep talk just to face the day. Have some meds, but not working, seeing someone just causes more negative questions How do I shake this off and be who I really am? Life is not that bad, but for some reason this dark cloud is smothering me. If this topic is not allowed on this platform, I apologize, and admin may remove it. Any suggestions or input will appreciated.

I am not a professional and I would certainly suggest seeking out professional help. With that said, I went through a period during which my father died from cancer, my wife had a miscarriage, my company was acquired and I lost my job, and I had covid, all in about 6 months. I felt like what you described feeling now. My approach has always been to “embrace the suck”. Life sucks. It does. I think we’ve been fooled by modern media into thinking that we should be happy all the time. If you think about it ancient ancestors, they spent most of their time scavenging for food and fleeing predators. So what you’re experiencing is not catastrophe, it’s humanity. Now the next part is to find something you can accomplish and go after it. In my dark time, it was losing the weight I had gained. Your goal might be different. But have a goal and focus on it. I found it took my mind away from self loathing, and accomplishment gave me a positivity light that helped in other areas. You will get through this.
Style Confidence vs. Style Experimentation
Lately I’ve been thinking about how much of style is about confidence versus the actual clothes. Dropping some weight has opened up new options for me, but I catch myself second‑guessing when I try something outside my usual lane. Do you guys lean more toward sticking with tried‑and‑true staples, or do you push yourself to experiment with bolder fits/colors until they feel natural? Curious to hear how you balance authenticity with growth because I want my style to feel like me, but also keep evolving.

Both and it depends on the situation. I’d it’s an important meeting, dinner date, or another important event, I stuck to what I know works. That gives me confidence in the moment. But on days where I don’t have an important event, I experiment. If ur goes wrong, then it doesn’t feel like it has consequences. But if I like it, then I have a new staple outfit.
Battle of the Bolos: Style, Swagger, and a Splash of Italian Leather
In the epic Battle of the Bolos, both contenders come out swinging—one with a bold turquoise punch, the other with vintage Western charm that looks like it’s got stories it only tells over good whiskey. This outfit ties it all together (pun fully intended): the soft Solomon Ariat shirt sets a warm, approachable tone, and the Bolo and matching belt buckle add that perfect “I’m professional, but also ready to two-step if necessary” energy. And Italian Leather by Memo? Oh, it’s the silent hero of the ensemble—smooth, refined, and projecting for a glorious eight hours like it’s on a personal mission to impress everyone within a lasso’s length. The creamy leather and green notes blend with the Western accessories so well, it’s basically your olfactory wingman. All in all, this showdown ends in a draw—because when you wear it, every bolo wins.

Great outfit. Great write up. You may want to explore Fulton & Roark’s newest scent Contrabando. It’s become by go-to ascent for western looks. https://fultonandroark.com/collections/extrait-de-parfum/products/contrabando-extrait
