My Issue With Knockoffs (Change my Mind)
I've been collecting fragrances since I'm in about grade 5 in the USA. So, 10 years old. I started with the predictable options. Brut by Faberge, Old Spice, and yes, British Sterling. I even had a bottle of Pierre Cardin which is high level for for a kid of 10. However, by Junior High (mind you this is the 80s) I had moved up to fragrances of more substance and yes - a healthier price tag. Polo and Santa Fe were my go to. Both in the $30ish dollar range at the time. As years have gone by I've grown more and more sophisticated in my purchasing and even in blending fragrances to achieve a scent that is truly unique to me as an individual. That being said, I'll make my point. Were I on a lower budget, yet still wanted to smell good, I would take a low budget designer brand fragrance over a discount store/street vendor knock off. Sure, they may be a bit more bland and less complex. But in terms of dry down and longevity, I have found that a low budget brand name option is going to outperform a knock off in intensity and longevity on any day - or evening. Especially when I can blend two fragrances to achieve something more unique and complex than a single fragrance by itself giving the air of a more expensive option on a shoe string budget - and nobody is the wiser. However... I've been reading about this Dua line of imposter fragrances that are getting really high praise. Who uses Dua and what has been your experience? I'm open to explore.
