30-Day Reset
5 days into holiday and still consistently keeping to 30-day reset πŸ€—
Latecomer!
Hey yall. So hopped on this challenge a little late but could not be a better time for me. Literally collapsed from what can only be assumed as chronic stress overload and failure to listen to my body. Anyhow. Read up on some of it all yesterday and through some of your wins. Amazing.x Started my day 1 as I mean to go on…. So hopefully inspiration for those who haven’t had their wins today yet but also mainly to hold me accountable to this 30 day challenge. My comfort zone and safety blanket of constant chasing and negative self talk is not getting me anywhere. So woke up - did the 5 minute breath flow to set the day. Off to my morning training session (I have some big comps on the horizon so training is my non negotiable - my problem is overtraining but fixing this) Headed to the ocean for a proper cool off in nature and just floated for 5 letting the waves carry me before I sat and dried out with a minute or 2 of writing down positive self talk and reflections. TTHAT was hard. I need to be held accountable to this so you might all get an essay or 2 a day. I seriously struggle with being kind and respectful to the body that has done a lot for me - so that is one of my challenges for these 30 days. To actually like myself a little more. My other is actually to not touch a drop of alcohol - for too long and sadly a lot recently so I turn to it to numb pain and emotions. It makes me feel shit when I train the next day - so double win here. Plus as I read on an earlier post it will be a likely cause to why my breathing feels so dysfunctional and my sleep non restorative My other challenge - to have and keep to a night routine which sets me up for a good morning. Getting into bed and not waking. My other is feeling like I can actually breathe again when I run. A lot of work to be done here. So I’ve written down my night routine with another breath session. Let’s see if I can stick to it. Oh for context my stress levels have heightened severely after disrupted months of travel and rocking up on the Gold Coast in Aus (from the UK) the other week with no plan and on my own. To restart a better life. So that’s fun! πŸ˜‚.

@Jen Howard This really resonates, I’ve also had times where stress caught up with me and my body forced me to slow down. Love how you’re stacking intentional wins like breathwork, training, and ocean time. The self-kindness and night routine goals really hit home too, those are big ones for me as well. Excited to see how your journey unfolds! 🌊πŸ’ͺ

@Jen Howard we visited Nerang National Park today, that was lovely. Just on holiday from NZ.
Thoughts...
Do you think breathwork and meditation are similar practices, or do they serve different purposes?

@Dave Wood I’m the same with the wild west coast beaches, love watching when it’s stormy, waves crashing and wind howling - I find it quite peaceful.

@Dani Wong That’s a really thoughtful explanation! I like how you pointed out the breath being both universal and non-sectarian, it makes sense why it resonates across different traditions. I also find it interesting how meditation in English doesn’t fully capture the depth of what many traditions see as simply a β€˜state of being.’ I guess it shows there’s no one right way, just different paths that lead to that same space.

Todays 1 minute of CONSTUCTIVE self-talk got me out in the surf again for the first time in months! Surfing with my boys πŸ„β€β™‚οΈπŸ„β€β™€οΈπŸ„β€β™‚οΈ This Auz trip was booked long before I had to stop work for some medical reasons a few months ago, I didn't believe I'd even end up coming - thinking husband and boys would come alone. Dave and his courses have just been phenomenal in helping me during this bizzare time.

@Dave Wood Appreciate that πŸ™Œ you’re right, it’s all about showing up, taking those small steps and backing yourself. The challenges are where the real growth happens, grateful to be on the journey and pushing forward.
