I did it!! πŸ˜€
Final exam for the Maine bow hunter required safety course. I have my field day scheduled for the 16th for the general hunting safety certification and I'll be good to go in time for the season! My uncle has some land up in northern NH, so I'll likely be up hunting with him a bit not too far in the future!

@Sherry Lawrence so up here, MA, CT, RI and NH require the generalized hunter safety course which can be done either 100% in person or by combination of an online course and a one day all day field day. That's for all hunting, firearm or bow. However, ME and VT require a specific bow hunting safety course, which is online/doesn't require a field day and is the only thing required if you're only hunting with a bow. Firearms hunters have to take it in addition to their own specific course if they wish to hunt with both. You'd think that given New England is such a comparitively small and compact bunch of states that they'd want to homogenize it and just have one requirement for all 6 states but apparently that's just not how they operate up here. πŸ˜†

Love this group. It's the only reason I use this app. πŸ˜†
Bow Materials
So, what are the advantages to different materials such as wood or fiberglass? Is there a benefit to having a bow made out of one or the other, or is it mainly personal preference?

@Rocky Zeien I think I may. If I don't, I think you're right... I'll regret it.

@Rocky Zeien I enjoy it quite a bit so far. :D
Women Archers
Throughout my life, I’ve been the β€œtomboy” and was always out on the farm, in the woods hunting, or fishing with my dad. Mom tried to make a girly girl out of me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but I’d rather wear camo and be outside. None of my female friends are interested in outdoor activities or archery either. Just wondering how many women are here in this group?

So, I'm a little... I guess unorthodox. I was always the tomboy when I was a kid. I used to go deep sea fishing with my grandfather and loved to climb trees and be outside. These days I'm heavily tattooed and look far more at home in a goth club than a tree stand. I'm tall and kinda gangly and I have never even been camping! I'm not the typical woman you would expect to be learning to shoot, I don't think. But I went to New England Archery and they were so warm and friendly and despite not really intending to leave with anything I wound up with my first bow (Galaxy Ember 45# takedown) and all the stuff I needed. I've been going back to their range every other day since then. (Yes, my arms are killing me!) πŸ˜†
Huntstock 2025 (MA)
Is anyone going to this? I was wondering if anyone had been in previous years that might know about the archery range. I know they have a 3D course set up and mention a range but they definitely seem to be focused on the 3D and I've never done that before and not sure if I would embarrass myself. πŸ˜‚ Also, any info overall on the event in general? I've never been to something like this before and it's REALLY close to me (only about 30 miles!) so I am VERY tempted to go and bring my bow. πŸ‘€ https://huntstockevents.com/massachusetts?utm_source=HuntStock%20Retargeting&utm_medium=Retargeting%20Video&utm_campaign=Retargeting%20MashUp%2030SEC&fbclid=IwQ0xDSwLvCrFleHRuA2FlbQEwAGFkaWQBqyMbkm_3_AEeZTkflp_GBccik_Xyh1xwo8hpb8GPYwlNZcspiKrH-Jp7MXbKdNMune94zWg_aem_nb8GWGXWoJD0xw-c8cFjNQ&utm_id=120225837053750780&utm_content=120225842085640780&utm_term=120225837054120780
