Hey Dave Could you write a simple explanation of what you explained in our chat this morning about alcohol and how it relates to the breath etc. I found it fascinating. So often people comment about “hanxiety” or terrible sleep after drinking and don’t know why and if people ask me then it would be great to explain it. Cheers

Yesss so good thank you! I went to feed the calves after our chat, had one stuck in the hay feeder, more out of the road…my stress levels were quite ragey. But I changed my thoughts, did some breathing and calmed down quite quickly which is unheard of for me when working with calves.
Breath!
I’ve been trying to get better at nose breathing, had a kayak race on the waimak yesterday and used my breathing gears. This evening my goal was to run the whole time in z2 and only breathe through my nose. It’s def challenged me and took me out of my comfort zone. I’m getting heaps out of the nsdr and 21min breath, but not much out of the 5min breath flow?

@Dave Wood ok that’s great to know. I just did a mini listen of the performance breath work before run so I really should deep dive into the content. I actually found it’s a good way to stay in z2 as if I started to run faster then I really wanted to mouth breathe. Ermm 5 min breath flow, I’m not sure, just trying to pop it in for the 30 day reset as I’ve never really applied it but I guess i try to do it before I transition into my next task of the day and am hoping to get renewed evergy.
Easy wins
Yesterday evening I went for a 8km road run while my son was at guitar lesson. I was loving running in the cold, seeing my breath…ramped up the pace and boom. Tweaked my calf with 1km to go. Spent the next km on a mantra of saying “my calf is strong”. I felt like an absolute knob but It actually helped ease the pain and got me home. This morning while training a client we finished with 5min breath flow- such a good way to finish a strength session.
