During my visit to see Professor James yesterday, I asked him some questions about breathing, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Please like or leave a comment if this is material that you are interested in.

I'm the king of upper lung breathing. Breath work during training and into rolling is the Gold Standard.

Special visit from Professor Jack Taufer. Recently, kuzura kesa gatame has been a position many of us have been working on. See you at tomorrow's Q&A session. (Premium members look in the classroom next week for some techniques that Professor Jack shared)

That is one off my favorite positions kesa gatame. We played with that on Monday. If I was the top player and I wanted to sept my left leg over your head grabbing the collar at the same time for a choke. The bottom player shuts that down by grabbing elbow or trying to get elbow to floor. Pretty neat stuff.
Week in review
Good Morning All. Today I'm heading over to see my Martial Blade Instructor for running knife fighting drills. It has been a good week running gun drills and paring up with a BJJ coach to do even more drills. I'm a self defense all around guy. Who else here might get into more self defense applications than BJJ?

I take what is given to me.
Focus for the week (pressure)
This week, when you are playing on top, think about making your partner carry as much of your weight as you can. When you open the guard, keep forward pressure. Don’t give your partner a chance to set up defenses and make space for frames. Don’t worry about completing a pass or catching a submission. See if you can exhaust your partner. When on the bottom, practice staying calm under pressure. Breathe and stay safe and try to find the easy way out. Don’t force anything. Build up resilience to the pressure by finding ways to breathe and stay calm.

I spend a lot of time on the bottom at 69 I'm out gunned by the younger players. When I get top I will try this.
