One month of gratitude journaling
Journaling is now my new favorite thing when I want to share something good or bad about my life. A journal doesn’t judge, a journal doesn’t question, it simply receives all the raw motions of life without any favors. A month of journaling has showed me that I can have compassion for myself, which I haven’t had in awhile. When things get tough or I’m in a slump I can bounce back quicker, I can see the good and everything I do, even if it was something bad and . I highly recommend a gratitude journal for anyone who wants to get out of a slump, out of a bad headspace and focus on reflecting inward instead of consuming from external devices, like social media, podcasts, books all the time for validation or advice. Documenting all the good things in your life is a simple act to rewire your brain to see the positives in life of all the things you do right and all the good you witness as well because there’s always good in the world you just have to look for it.🤗

@Dan 'Remmy' Stourac I couldn’t agree more and the benefits of it all and omg of course I got the massive journal book that comes alongside the course so it really is double the size of an average notebook so it feels more like 6 pages than 3 and takes me about an hour and a half to fill them out… I think that in itself is what I love most about it, giving myself the allotted time and sacred space to just be with me, God, the pages and all that wants to come through me in that raw, authentic way… Already so much clairty and healing has occured and some really massive breakthroughs and original ideas have begun to take form, so really loving it and couldn’t also agree that with consistency, that’s where magic truly can materialize! Thanks @Dan 'Remmy' Stourac 🙏🏻💚 Appreciate all your love and support!

@Brendan OCallaghan omg never need to apologize for moving in your own timing but yes, I do think it helps with clarity in my art practice!! To be honest I think prioritizing this space creates the environment where I get to spend allotted time with myself (and God & The Universe for sure), unfiltered and raw and tend to my inner well, to fill it up to let what needs to be seen, felt, and expressed which then opens up a well, so much more space for of my creativity to then rush through because I’m not blocking what needed to come up first, nor bypassing what’s present, and not just using art as a form escape but to bring what’s coming up from within into tangible form, which enhances what I’m creating 10 fold. It’s been so powerful and has opened up some deep healing and transition! I also, side note, as of late know that it’s not actually needed to just do in the morning and I can utilize this tool as needed and some days I can just verbalize it and not need to do 3 pages, so I’m giving myself the space to just lean into what feels right, day by day!!!
Your fave song and the story behind why?
I love getting to know people through their favourite music and why it is for them! I’ll start - https://youtu.be/geZ_5Ri7ANg?si=Jwn1fcQT41c3Akte Rock n roll - eden. Explains my feeling of wanting to be thoroughly used up by life, yet balancing the sensation of feeling lost and misunderstood in trying to do life differently. ‘I ain’t scared of living’ is like a lifeline for me. And the ‘I’m not worried about you’ convo at the end hits a soft spot. I can’t help but also share https://youtu.be/EwI-Ttci9qQ?si=wBBarI6LMf7g31Kb this INSANE new beatbox that tickles my brain. I promise you’ll feel it in your bones And https://youtu.be/zBgHSPUv_8g?si=wezWkCaJDMPrtJYs bittersweet symphony - luca stricagnoli is the epitome of flow state. It quiets my brain and helps me revisit a sense of awe for people’s capacity for creativity in life! Can’t wait to hear yours!

@Georgiana D such a good bop! Both of those! I love to sing the riffs she does at the end of “fighter” and it’s so hard for me not to do it out loud so I just decided the gym will just have to hear a small whisper of it, can’t suppress it anymore lol You are so welcome, again, like I shared above it’s a gift to hear the songs people share and it’s an honor to learn more about you through them! 🙏🏻💚
When was a time a risk you took paid off?
Life is full of adventures hiding behind an entrance fee of curiosity! It must simply be greater than our self-doubt and fears! Very few people in life land their truly aligned career or relationship on first attempt. We’ve all lived far more colourful lives than first impressions could ever tell. Share one of those stories here! For myself, last summer, I had an epiphany that I must CHALLENGE my limiting beliefs. One was that I could not be a heli-pilot because of 3 heart procedures as a kid with leukaemia. You can’t fly with risk of heart palpitations - which I have had probably once a month for 20 years. But I never medically confirmed this to disqualify me. The day after I realized I made an assumption, rather than make proof, I went to an aviation medical examiner, did all the test and passed with flying colors! 💫 I expressed my concerns and he said ‘no, you’re a young healthy guy despite your cancer, crazy if you DONT go for this with your clean bill of health.” 🤯 Next step, I call my only heli-pilot contact I met a a horseback guide in the Yukon a decade ago. I asked for pointers before paying $80,000 in schooling. 9min phone call later, he offered me a job as ground crew at his helicopter outfit in a remote Inuit village in the Yukon. I dropped my life, drove 37hours and spent 2 months in the epic north! Learned a TON! BUT! I learned that my truest calling is to be of deep and personal service to individuals. My gifts are to elevate others, and flying was just a ‘that’s pretty badass’ dream that I thought was denied me because of my heart procedures. But that man gave me an opportunity to realize my priorities and saved me heart $100,000 and YEARS of debt by giving me an inside view before investing. So my words to you, do not simply buy into any negative assumption about yourself. Challenge it and realize how often ONLY our own mindset and the story we tell ourselves is in the way! Thanks to @Georgiana D for inspiring this conversation!

@Dan 'Remmy' Stourac ahhh I love you and yeah it’s wild, God ALWAYS delivers on wishes and prayers (some way, shape, or form, most of the time not in the way we expect but everything we need and more); especially when you have the audacity and courage to choose life, to choose to fully love and embrace all that we are given, to be your authentic self, to choose love over fear, to take risks and leaps, and to be slightly obsessed (more so devoted) in the discovery and harnessing of the magic and wonder of this entire existence, especially when it’s all anchored in for the betterment of all… Gahh I just knew to add that photo, teheheh I love that so much and what a fun silly time that was! Gahh you really got to witness me in the thick of one of the hardest parts of my journey thus far and still showed up with so much love and care and silliness and it was just so epic!! I’m just grateful for you, always!! And Ahhh just thank! Thank you for being such an incredible person (in general) and friend in my life! It’s deeply humbling to read this and at the same time validates so much, so truly thank you!!! I’m so grateful to know and to have other crazy folks like you alongside this ride!!! Doing the dang thing, in your own way and timing and that God and the Universe will bring souls like all of us here, together to help each other along the path and to cheer one another along!!! What a gift it all is!! Thank you so much!!
What is a fear you’ve overcome or outworked?
‘Every time fear wins it is strengthened.’ That quote terrifies me. - What mindset/reframe helped you overcome hesitation? Fear puts invisible walls up on the possibilities of our life. Some are simply good for us, some are learned and purely fed by an unruly commitment to feeling inadequate. I say ‘commitment’ because if the same diligence was put into convincing ourselves greater than that fear, we would inevitable conquer it. When you take a radical ownership of your life, you realize playing against fears is the fastest way feeling truly present and alive. It builds a confidence faster than any other habit. It makes you wonder ‘what else have I been holding myself back from?’ - I DESPISE being on camera. So I’ve done over 270media posts since 2020. The chance what I share is valuable to somebody is more important than my insecurity. - I feared starting public interactions, so I did 100reps of just saying “Hey, I’m working on breaking my social anxiousness, can I ask you a story-question?’ And asked one from ‘Compass of Connection’😜 it became a fave thing to do when stuck on a chairlift now ! - I feared being misunderstood and social conflict. Because my upbringing reference was malicious conduct and put-downs. I didn’t want to act that way. So learning to slow down, reframe to ‘us vs problem’ conduct, I actually am fairly excited during misunderstandings. It is an opportunity to see how truly committed we are to a harmony, or whether insecurity is still running the show. Nothing refines connection like stacking victories over issues. I KNOW I get to be a living example of healthy conduct and change others sense of possibility for how arguements can unfold:) How about you??

Growth and a new chapter begins!
Hello everyone, I just wanted to share about my first two days as an apprentice barber. I am 2 days into my Barber apprenticeship day one was awesome I got to meet some of the Barbers in my crew and shadowed my mentor as he did some hair cuts and I got my own Apprentice Barber chair it felt so official and I was stoked! Day two a great day but in a different way. I had my first haircut at the shop and lets just say I was a little nervous. The gentleman asked for a high fade I commenced the haircut shaving in my guide line. The gentleman then pointed out that one side was slightly higher than the other and I thanked him and made sure to correct it. At the 10 minute mark he stopped me and asked “are you new?” I replied “yes I am an apprentice” to which he replied “not to be rude but I'm going to stop you before you F**K up my lines, I would like someone else to do this haircut I'm paying for a quality haircut.” I replied of course that is no problem and one of the Barbers stepped in to do the rest of the haircut. As it was my official first day cutting hair at the studio I coached myself and ask myself the question what can I do better next time? - Let the customer know I am an apprentice - Explain the rates of a junior Barber cut - Work on calming the nerves Later I talked to the shop manager (my mentor) and he encouraged me saying that the next drop-in customer that is asking for a basic haircut (not a fade) will be a good place to start off. And clients who are my friends I can do the more complex cuts on since I've cut their hair in the past they know and trust me to cut their hair with some support and guidance from my mentor when it's needed. This helped me understand that this situation was not personal though the customers reaction was negative I used it as a lesson to know what my next steps will be in learning and honing in on my craft. Additionally the other Barbers encouraged me saying that this is not a common occurance at the Barbed shop and to just stay positive and keep doing what I'm doing and that I handled the situation very well and professionally and it took courage to handle that.

I mean can we just take a moment and get a standing ovation over here for the class and shear (no pun intended here 🤣) badassery of what you just shared and how you handled it all and showed up for yourself with so much grace, compassion, and love and absolutely crushed it?!? I mean come on, we can all take a class on that!!! Thank you for sharing and truly celebrating and honoring you!! That is huge and what an incredible beginners mindset approach and if anything it’s just confirmation you got this!!! Thank you!!! A huge win for myself has been the way I’ve been nurturing and caring for my well-being, in all aspects of mind, body, and soul (especially physical) as of late, by truly choosing myself and making decisions for me and really seeing the harmony and peace of it all being restored from the inside out!!! Thank you for asking and again thank you for sharing in the above!
