Your Responsibility
I recently heard some really good wisdom the other day that has continued to ring in my ears and is changing the way I show up: You are responsible for the energy you let in, but you are also responsible for the energy you put out. Whew. Let me tell you!! I’m a Pitta dosha Gemini, and if that means nothing at all to you, I’ll just say that when I show up, I show UP. I’m on fire, I’m ready to go, and often times with far too much energy for the average person to take in all at once. What I also am is a safe space. Someone God has asked to hold space for others to heal, but when I don’t take time to ground, to breathe, and to call forth my intention, my energy is chaotic. Well-meaning, but chaotic. So this message has been front and center for me this week and I hope it serves you too. Be responsible for the energy you’re putting out there. Be well. <3

Today's ASKfirmations. Master Your Mind – Epictetus’ Guide to Mental Clarity & Inner Freedom #2
Your mind is the key to your freedom—or your imprisonment. Epictetus reminds us that our choices, perceptions, and inner discipline determine whether we thrive or suffer. Let go of negativity, and take full control of your inner world. "The proper work of the mind is the exercise of choice, refusal, yearning, repulsion, preparation, purpose, and ascent. What then can pollute and block the mind’s proper functioning? Nothing but its own corrupt decisions." Today's ASKfirmations Why do I choose my thoughts wisely, knowing they shape my reality? Why do I focus only on what I can control, letting go of distractions? Why do I embrace discipline as the key to mental clarity and strength? Why is it so easy for me to reject negativity and embrace wisdom?

Oh I love this topic so much. My first ever yoga class was an elective college course I literally took because one of my friends was and we thought it’d be super chill (and a break from normal classes). I don’t remember much about that class other than I thought the teacher was a bit strange and EVERYONE fell asleep in Savasana. We definitely giggled every time someone would snore. Fast forward to about 5 years later I was once again a college student but this time a single mom as well. Studying and working late hours and I just remembered feeling like “damn I need a break!!”. One night after studying I decided to roll out my mat and find a YouTube video to do a little yoga in my living room. I even made a cup of tea, turned down the lights.. and the rest is history y’all I’ve been hooked since. I moved to the city and decided to try one of the local yoga studios and I fell in love even more. The routine, the community I craved to be a part of, the class of course, literally even the smell of the studio. It all became such an important part of my life that I have never looked back. My confidence, my relationship to my body, my health, my relationships with others.. none of THIS would be the same without that. Yoga changed every part of my life. Every single part.

@Jessica Watson I love this because I always struggle with comparison. Seeing everyone around me being able to do ALL the things. It feels like a superpower. But me? Girl I get one thing on my schedule and that’s enough. 😂 I too get very overwhelmed and yoga is where I find that peace. Sometimes to make space for more, sometimes to simply be where I am. Thanks for sharing.

@Chris Conyers showing up authentically has been such a blessing for me too. There’s no expectation here, I can take off the hats and just be me. Mindfulness is big for me right now too. I’ve dipped my toe in and it’s changed everything. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds for you (us) and to hear more about your teacher training!!
