My Channel
I've never been the first to post. My channel is https://youtube.com/@agingonyourterms?si=97rSI-hImk_Gztz5 My mission is to motivate people to plan for aging while they still have the mental and physical capability to do so. 🙏🏾

Your mission is so important. Thank you for doing this.
Processor Power with DaVinci etc…
Those who use DaVinci or similar, do you have pretty powerful computers? I am finding it freezes my MacBook Air more often recently. I think my processor and memory are maybe borderline, even for shorter videos.

I have a 10 year old macbook pro laptop, with 512GB storage space & 16GB Ram (which is better than 8Gb for video work. For very limited video editing you probably will be fine with the 8GB but it might become frustrating.) I am getting used to editing off an external harddrive (SSD but HDD would be fine) to get into a workflow that will make it easier to work from a new machine some time soon. For now my computer still works but it does get a bit hot and rendering takes longer than a newer computer would be able to do. My next latop some time this year will be the Apple macbook Air, 15 inch, 16GB RAM, 512 GB storage. I would prefer the Pro but I won't be able to afford it and the macbook Air will be good enoug & so much quicker than my current laptop. Was this too much information?

@Andrea S. are you using the original cable that came with the drive? SOMETIMES it's literally the cable that's the slowing down culprit.
How much do you use VidIQ? I've just changed a bunch of titles.
I have the basic paid subscription to Vid IQ and I use it to give me basic guidance when uploading videos. To help remind me to use end cards etc. and to score my title, thumbnail and description. I was digging around in there last night and asked it for 'optimisation' help on videos on my channel and saw a lot of videos with titles that scored low (like 44/100 or 60/100). If you use Vid IQ and haven't nosied around into it much like I hadn't, it was good to float back over old videos before I had Vid IQ and swap out titles (video below is showing you how it works). I only picked titles that were true for my video and - being old videos it doesn't matter that much but while watching the new Knives Out movie it was the perfect computer job to tootle around with. Do you use either free or paid Vid IQ much and if so, what do you use it for? Signed, Major Underuser of VidIQ.

I don't use Vid IQ at all, but I am completely open to testing it later.
YouTube is trialling Direct Messages.
YouTube is running this test in Ireland and Poland at the moment and say this is a highly requested feature. If it goes ahead, people will be able to send clips and chat about them inside the mobile app -like Instagram. It will also scan the messages to ensure community guidelines compliance. Remember they released this in 2017 then scrapped it 2 years later? They haven't revealed what they will name it yet (but what would you name it if you had naming rights???) Can you see yourself using this in a big way?

I think it could be useful. It will depend on what type of channel & goals we have. And I think it is also ok to lete followers know if we are or are not going to be able to respond in private messages. Maybe they will eventually offer an option of only alloweing longterm followers message us (IG already has an option like this somewhere deep in settings, where new followers can't comment.. ) or where only paying channel members can get messaging access.
Week 3 - The Recipe!
This week we are asked to come up with three signature recipes for our videos/channel. The five ingredients are: Audience Value Format Vibe Differentiator Audience of course, will be fed by your content/theme and the other four ingredients. Value will always be subjective... Format could vary depending on your content. Do you do shorts? Tutorials? Is there a prescribed way of delivering what you offer? Vibe and differentiator are what interest me most ;) I have been watching videos for this challenge from the previous research POV, and realised something that now seems obvious... What we watch can often differ wildly from what we want to create. Do people who make "How to do YouTube" videos watch other "How to do YouTube" videos? I would love to know!! How many of you watch a lot of the content that matches your own? But whatever, we can still use stuff we like to inform any of our ingredients, regardless of content. Ok let's hit the road... :) Please comment and let us know how you are doing with this part of the challenge! I am loving the input... and @Julie JordanScott you are a shining star!! 🤩
