Yeeeeesh! Jackpot! I have 4 burlingtons in my area within an hour away or less. 3 of them stock trash (the usual boring Guess Nautica Declassified Bannana Republic etc). One of them (unfortunately for me the furthest for me) has some bangers. I recently picked up Rayhaan Lion (JPG Ultramale) and French Avenue Obsidian (Angels Share On The Rocks). They also had Kahmra, Khadlaj Island, Turathi Brown, and a lot of other popular ones.
ScentFest SF! I am back baby!
Alright fam, real talk, sorry for ghosting the community for a minute. If I’m being honest, I lost the spark. That passion for fragrance that used to have me refreshing decant sites at 2am? Gone. Just wasn’t feeling it. Then I went to ScentFest SF (June 26–28) and everything flipped. Met up with my brothers @Thomas Chavez and @Henry Clay . These dudes have become genuinely great friends and man, we had a blast. Just hanging out, sniffing everything in sight, talking scent for hours. Also got to meet @Lon Chaneyfield and @Antonio O. Centeno in person, which was awesome. Being around the brotherhood, soaking in the energy, remembering why I fell in love with this hobby in the first place… it lit the fire back up. So consider this my official comeback. SOTD posts are back, and I’ve got a mountain of samples and discovery sets from ScentFest to work through with y’all. Speaking of, check the haul. Real quick though, I had put Diary of a Nose on pause. My fragrance checker app just wasn’t happening while I was burned out. But now that the passion’s back, we’re going all in. Diary of a Nose is coming soon, and I’m hyped to finally get it out to you guys. Today’s SOTD is a layering experiment from Mitti Parfum (their booth was killer, pic below). I layered Virasat and Shikara and wow. It opens like walking into a Hindu temple, that warm, incense-y, sacred vibe. Then it dries down into this super clean, musky white floral that’s just gorgeous. Perfect for the high-90s heat we’re getting here in SoCal right now. Good to be back. Missed you all.

I’m so bummed I couldn’t make it to SF scent fest. It’s just over the bridge from me (I live in the east bay) and was excited to see such a great looking fragrance event so close to where I live, and one that I’d be able to meet Antonio at as well. Unfortunately my finances have not been in a good spot so I wasn’t able to pull the trigger this time around. Wishing I could have figured out a way to make it work. Glad you enjoyed it!

@Lon Chaneyfield that’s so nice of you. I live in Walnut Creek and work in San Leandro and Oakland.
I like the way she simply explains note breakdowns

Going with Lalique Pour Homme after a great vacation and lots iof rain in CT. Love the classic fougere style that gives good performance. Not a dupe but is in the Creed BdP family.

I’ve had this one for a while now. I’m a sucker for the barbershop fragrances and this one definitely scratches that itch. Pretty close to Creed Boise De Portugal (definitely not a 1:1 clone but very similar in my opinion) I actually wore it yesterday but experimented with layering it with Drakkar Nior. I basically sprayed Lalique Por Homme first as the base then Drakkar Noir on top. Wow not only was it a nice blend of two somewhat different styles of barbershop scents, but it seems the Lalique base under the Drakkar Nior allowed the DN to have much better performance that it does on its own which was the one gripe I have always had with DN.
Vintage Radio…A New Classic
This was a blind buy after seeing it recommended in an earlier RMRS post, and I’m glad I took the chance because it exceeded my expectations. Vintage Radio opens with a rich, slightly fruity sweetness before settling into a beautifully smooth heart of lavender and woods, while the creamy palo santo, sandalwood, amber, and subtle vanilla in the dry down give it a warm, sophisticated character that feels both modern and comforting. Performance has been excellent on my skin, consistently giving me 8–10 hours of longevity with a solid scent bubble for the first couple of hours before settling into an inviting personal scent. The sillage is noticeable without being overpowering, earning several compliments while remaining refined enough for the office, dinner, or an evening out. This has quickly become one of my favorite fragrances, and it’s one I’ll happily keep in regular rotation throughout the fall, winter, and cooler spring days.

This has been in my radar for a while now. I think you convinced me to pull the trigger.

40 year old who never put much thought into dressing classy at all until now. Pretty much starting from scratch with a very low budget.
