A SAFE HARBOR⛵️ FOR MIDLIFE MEN
I started a new community this past week (even though having two splits my brain a bit). I'm still working out the finer points, but overall, it's based on my experience approaching retirement and on how my sensitivities as an empath and a highly sensitive person (HSP) shaped it. However, guys are 'sensitive' to being called 'sensitive' unless they're actually 'sensitive.' 🙄 It's a whole guy thing, so I'm being careful to frame it without overusing terms like 'empathic' and 'HSP.' Anyway, rather than a high-ticket offer, I'm offering a tiered community at $5, $27, and $47/month to attract more guys at a lower price point. I'm assuming $5/month will keep them in, since it's low enough not to trigger churn if they experience a financially challenging month, and they receive the main offer, even at that level. The Premium and VIP tiers are even better. Here's how I'm framing it. Your comments are welcome. Here's my about page text: ==========SKOOL ABOUT PAGE======= As men near retirement age, life often feels heavier rather than quieter. Many men 50+ discover that retirement or slowing down doesn’t bring relief. It brings more noise, internal questioning, and exposure to things they once powered through. Especially for men who are perceptive, thoughtful, and deeply affected by their environments and relationships. A Safe Harbor⛵️ exists for men like us. We’re not broken. We don’t need reinvention. Just a slight recalibration. 👇🏼 👨🏼 INSIDE 'A SAFE HARBOR' IS A CALM, FOCUSED 90-DAY EXPERIENCE designed to reduce overload and rebuild your internal self-perceptive trust, so you can enjoy this stage of life with steadiness and ease instead of quiet stress. ⛔️ No therapy. ⛔️ No hype. ⛔️ No pressure to complete a course You can observe, read, listen, and engage at your own pace. You can observe, read, listen, and engage at your own pace. The value lies not in the information, but in the relief, clarity, and communitywhere you can make sense of your inner life.

See You Monday?
On Monday, I'm hosting a free masterclass for all members called, "What Makes an Online Course Successful? There's been a lot of controversy in the Skoolersphere about whether or not courses are important or not. Is the classroom really "dead"? If you want to help someone learn a new skill or undergo a transformation based on theory, process, or steps, the classroom can be your best friend - when done right (that part is key). Too often people talk about how horrible courses are, but it's usually because they have only experienced bad ones. Come join me for an open conversation about your classroom and learn what makes a course "successful." Check the calendar for the exact time and then add it to your personal calendar so that you don't miss out. A replay will be available for a short time after the actual masterclass.

“Build It, and They Will Come” — A Myth that Quietly Paralyzes Creators
Most creators don’t fail because they lack talent. They stall because they believe a myth that feels productive, even though it isn’t. HERE ARE THREE REASONS THE “BUILD IT, AND THEY WILL COME” IDEA DOES REAL DAMAGE. 1. IT PROMISES RESULTS WITHOUT CORRESPONDING EFFORT. The myth suggests that creation alone is enough. Write the book. Launch the product. Publish the course. Then wait. That belief removes the need for outreach, testing, and adjustment—the very activities that turn work into results. When outcomes don’t appear automatically, creators don’t correct course…they freeze. 2. IT ELIMINATES THE MOST IMPORTANT FUNCTION IN BUSINESS: CONVERSATION. Nothing meaningful happens without two-way dialogue. “Build it, and they will come” replaces conversations with hope. Instead of talking to real people, creators retreat into polishing, tweaking, and refining in isolation. Feedback, signals, and momentum all disappear. 3. IT’S LAZIER IN A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE WAY. This is the uncomfortable one. The myth lets creators feel industrious without being exposed. Building in private feels safer than asking questions, making offers, or hearing “no.” But success isn’t awarded for effort alone. It’s earned through interaction, responsiveness, and showing up before you feel ready. Tiny Tribes🪶 exists because small, intentional work done in public, in conversation, with real people beats silent perfection every time. If you’re building something right now, ask yourself: 👉🏼 WHAT CONVERSATION AM I AVOIDING BY “GETTING READY?" That answer usually points to the next useful move. In my opinion, the next move is to ACT. AT A MINIMUM, TAKE OUT YOUR PHONE AND DO THE FOLLOWING TODAY: - Shoot a 30-second video (in selfie-mode) with your basic elevator pitch (use Claude or ChatGPT to help you craft one for your niche) - Post them to a YouTube channel via YouTube Shorts - Post them as Instagram Reels - Make sure your newsletter / Substack/YT channel, etc., is linked in your bio.

“Pub” energy: business + fun + community 🎭🧠🍻
Some communities feel like a sales webinar that never ends. The Void Tavern feels more like a pub for builders: real talk, real laughs, and real progress. There are rooms for business troubleshooting, rooms for music and memes, and a corner for venting when life is being a gremlin. You don’t have to be “on” all the time to belong here. Show up messy, show up quiet, show up motivated—just show up. If that sounds like your kind of place, here’s the door

I read your 'About' page, @Grant Hepworth. That's a cool angle and niche that I haven't seen before. 🎯
Please Introduce Yourself
One of the most important things I've learned since becoming an online entrepreneur is that the most important thing you can do to grow your business is to build relationships. Many of us (myself included) have rushed to promote our groups and services that we care so deeply about. And it only makes sense - we are excited about what we are doing! Today, I'd like to invite you to take a step back and introduce yourself to the group by answering the following questions: 1. Who are you personally? 2. Who are you professionally? 3. What is something you love doing outside of work? 4. What is something surprising about you? As you open up and make more connections, you will find that not only are people more interested in what you do, but they will also be more interested in helping you make connections with other people they know! 😉 After you introduce yourself, please scroll through the other introductions and add a comment to someone you have something in common with or would like to know more about. 😊 Please add your introduction in the comments below! ⬇️

Hi, I’m Baz from Vancouver, WA. My social bio says I’m a ‘coffee mainliner & Labradoodle dad’ offline. True story. I’m also semi-retired. I say ‘semi-retired’ because I need to supplement my retirement income as many seniors do in this time of economic uncertainty. I’ve engaged in gig-work (Uber, DoorDash) and ghostwriting short books for experts and service providers. I recently shifted my target audience from newsletter writers to fellow seniors, also retired, who need to supplement their retirement income. Kind of a ‘takes one to know one’ approach. It feels like a more natural fit. I had 25 non-engaged members who no longer visited the community, so I churned them. Now, I’m starting over. Im hoping to learn from others here and network with like-minded folks.
