Technical Q re: My Club's Classroom
I'm trying to build out my first iteration of my classroom using mostly content that exists on YouTube. How do I upload a file into the classroom when I cannot download the video from YouTube to my computer? Skool wants me to upload a file, not a URL (it seems to me, unless I'm missing something). @Jennifer White @Tamanna Zahan Please advise. Thanks!

@Virginia White If you haven't yet gotten the answer you need, could you post a screenshot of what you see when you click "edit" on a new page?
Help: Member wanting to cancel early
Has anyone dealt with a member wanting to cancel membership early and unwilling to pause the membership? My policy in the signed contract is "no refunds" and a fee of $500 for a pause of a few months, but they were unwilling to pause, and just wanting to completely cancel the membership, and they're not in a financial position to keep paying the monthly payments. I don't want to be shaky on my boundaries but I also understand where this member is coming from. She was very apologetic and said she'd wished she'd read and understood the contract better when she signed it back in the Fall. I told her I'd think on it and get back to her after I've considered a middle ground option. Should I just give her the option to pay the "pause" fee of $500 as a cancellation fee instead? I don't want to force a person who has made up her mind and has been thinking about this for a while and who had a lot of courage to bring it up to me. I'd really appreciate feedback on this situation. @Cate Stillman

@Valerie Hwang Beck agree completely with this. It all turns on the language in the contract. I’ve been chatting with Elizabeth about her terms. But you’re quite right about not being able to charge the pause fee as a cancellation fee.

Reaching Out
When in freak out, I usually retreat....I lost my Uncle to suicide mid-October & halted my WPA work for about 2months. I'm coming back to it finally as life must move on... I'm scared to be bigger in my life & I'm also scared to die without living my dreams. I'm reaching out to help get past the freak out. Any advice & encouragement is welcome. I'm shifting from a full-time bodyworker (with weak tech & business skills) to an ayurvedic wellness counselor & boy do I feel impostor syndrome, yet I know it's the next step in my evolution of self. thank you for your time & support.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Haylee. That you shared where you're at is already an important step. A few WPA members -- @Paula Pister @Meghann Jacobs come to mind -- have been going through something similar; there may be others who are moving through grief and loss and trying to build a new work identity at the same time. I'm wondering if perhaps we as a community can create some space and meeting time around this topic, around healing while creating and evolving, and how to do both with a sense of grace, and not just power through it alone.
Free Skool + Upgrades? Leads >>>Sales
I’m exploring a shift in how I use Skool and would love feedback from you all! I currently have 21 members in my Skool community from when I launched it as free. Only about 5 are actively engaging (5 real club members, 2 paying members). However, a few of the free members hop in from time to time but they do not feel β€˜invited’ to engage, so they don’t. I’m considering repositioning Skool as a free community layer in my funnel β€” consistent light-touch content (worksheets, prompts, questions 1–2x/week) to build connection and trust β€” and then offering paid upgrades for being part of club- live calls, full skool classroom for my club, and higher-touch coaching. I’m already growing my email list through in-person events, and inviting those leads into a free Skool space feels like a natural next step for deepening engagement rather than doing a facebook group. For those who’ve tested free community β†’ paid upgrade pathways: Did Skool perform well as the free hub? Any pitfalls or best practices I should consider?

I'm eager to hear what others have to say about this. I launched a free Skool community, separate from my club, to avoid the problem that @Kavita Kat Macmillan described -- I wanted the chat/community forum to remain confidential and not subject to lurkers. Unfortunately, I've found the effort to keep those free members engaged quite high. It's a bit like having another social media feed. I'm still sticking with it, but it hasn't led to anybody wanting to join my club.

@Lisa Myers Yes, lots of opportunity, but also what you describe in your original post is consistent with my experience -- a few people who are active, the majority are not. think the number of members in the community needs to be high so that the smaller percentage who will engage will be enough to generate continued interest and activity that leads to club enrollment. I think others will have more input. I'm tagging @Elizabeth Stauder, because I know she has a free community as well.
