Reaching 10,000 Followers On Instagram
In less than a year, I quadrupled my Instagram following from 2,500 followers to 10,000... Even though I don't give much of a shit about Instagram. (I do, however, like cake) None of this involved joining 'heart 4 heart' Instagram 'engagement groups', scrolling through Instagram for hours or posting pictures of that juicy piece of meat from the steakhouse. By the time I got married in 2019, every 2-3 posts I made on Instagram were photos of/with girls, which allowed me to be seen by girls in my network as a guy who has lots of female friends, doing fun things with women and going on a lot of dates. This made it very easily possible to have girlfriends who didn't even bat an eyelash at the fact that I was seeing other girls on the side every single week, because they ALREADY SAW IT and therefore expected it. This worked out nicely with just a following of 1,000-2,500 followers. It wasn't about the followers, but showcasing what I'm doing, and that often involved hanging out with girls, doing the most random things. Social proof works on Instagram and Facebook for you overnight, and forever. I stopped paying attention to Instagram from around 2020 to 2023, when I left Las Vegas with a cool video or two to upload, having spent years in isolation, stuck in multiple countries due to the pandemic, and then stuck again due to my wife's brain cancer. I decided that I was easily in the position to do more with Instagram, without much effort. Since I already had hundreds of YouTube Shorts in my files and uploaded to YouTube, all I had to do was gradually upload every single one of my YouTube Shorts to Instagram, as Instagram is in direct competition with YouTube and TikTok for short form videos. I started uploading 1-3 Instagram Reels per week... It would take 10 years at this rate to upload all of them, and that's assuming I would never create videos ever again. And so I began upping the numbers... 5 per week. 10 per week. 14 per week. And then when I went away to Argentina, I noted 3 file numbers for each day I would be away, so I can just go on Google Drive, download 3 files, and upload them to Instagram. This has taken me to 27 per week most recently, and I still have many, many, many hundreds of files to upload.
