Has anyone been able to sample this one yet? I heard the Cherry note wasn't as stellar as it could have been, but that's also the internets so who knows
Summer fragrances
Any recommendations for a good summer fragrance?

One that can be found at discounters for a good price is Artisan Pure by John Varvatos. To me it smells like you'd think beach cabana Tiki bar should smell like. I don't know why but that's just the vibe I get from it.
SOTD - Guerlain L’homme Ideal Cologne Forte
I’ve had this sample for a few days now and decided to give it a full wear. I didn’t grab a picture of my sample so a stock photo will have to do for today. Launched in 2025, the perfumer is Delphine Jelk. It is a limited edition flanker (yes really), blending fresh citrus with the signature almond while delivering surprisingly strong performance for a "cologne" style release. It opens with a burst of grapefruit, lemon peel and bergamot. It’s refreshing without being sharp or harsh. This quickly transitions into a creamy almond, with a subtle cherry pit/Amaretto like bitterness and sweetness, lightly spiced by cinnamon. The drydown has a warm, woody depth from the vetiver, incense, and vanillin creating that burning cool or hot/cold paradox Guerlain promotes: fresh and clean upfront, but with a masculine, slightly smoky backbone. It is polished, classy, and elegant. Very Guerlain, anchored by the gourmand almond DNA. Performance is far better than typical colognes. Longevity is 7-8 hours with strong projection for the first 2-3 hours. It's an EDP concentration despite the Cologne Forte name, which explains the punch. This is versatile enough for spring/summer/daytime, but would work year round. If you enjoy citrus forward masculines with a gourmand twist and hate weak performers, this could work for you. It’s fresh yet substantial, classy, and long lasting. Highly recommended for spring/summer wear or anyone who loves the L'Homme Idéal DNA.

@Jeff Beason probably one of my long rambly posts. I even feel like it might have even entered the chat

@Jeff Beason So it wasn't just me that was having trouble sourcing it.
I am struggling
Hey all, a couple weeks ago, I lost my flame because I had the flu and somehow it did not bother me at all and I wasn't going to focus on trying to get back, like I had done in the past. As I reflect, I was wondering why I didn't care and I think about how I feel about BoS. As of the past few months, I have been struggling to feel the love for BoS like I used to have. I think it was just the result of 1000 paper cuts. From Level 9 reward changing, just before I hit Level 9, members copy and pasting the same response over and over just to game the level system, the constant rotation of new folks, moving to paid membership( nothing wrong I just didn't see value as I had to setup something outside of BoS) etc. I have built many relationships here and that I am very appreciative of that and you guys know who you are. I think with the recent revolving door of new guys, I feel like I don't want to invest time or make any effort to build relationships because odds are they will come and they will go, so why bother? reaching Level 7+ used to be an achievement, but now the system is gamed by copy and pasting same response, posting junk just to get the points. The comradery, outside of the older members, has disappeared. The fun and the jokes and the sharing are gone except for within our own little cliques, which is a result of the revolving door. I understand the constant refresh of fresh members in natural, but it does erode the culture, if they are not willing to try to build the culture. I know many other brothers feel the same. Just wanted to share how I felt

@Ben E no worries I also just leaned into the humor side of it as well since it was really early in the AM at the time. Not every post is gold. And I mean it did spark a discussion amongst the group so you know if that's the goal that's the goal

@Ben E Don't you worry humor is subjective. Anyways. I thought my winky-face at the end was indicating I was just fooling around
Barriers to the Fragrance Hobby: "Access to Sampling – Geography Matters" (3/6)
Not everyone lives near a luxury mall or boutique fragrance shop. For many, access is limited to whatever sits behind a locked glass case at the nearest department store. If niche isn’t stocked locally, exploration becomes dependent on online ordering...often blind! Sampling is the lifeblood of responsible collecting. It protects the wallet and sharpens the nose. But when samples are hard to find or overpriced themselves, the barrier becomes logistical rather than financial. Geography plays a bigger role in this hobby than we sometimes acknowledge. Fortunately, the rise of decant services and online sample programs has helped level the playing field. Still, access remains uneven. The more brands prioritize approachable discovery options, the healthier the hobby becomes. What say you, guys? How easy is it for you to sample where you live? Have you ever blind bought simply because you couldn’t test first? And who else has rolled the dice on a full bottle because patience left the building? Love to hear from ya'!

Discovery sets when you can get them are a must and I have a monthly subscription service from a niche perfume place as I'm also hundreds of miles away from my nearest luxury or niche perfumery. With the Hudson's Bay closing, it's getting harder for me to get samples as the remaining retail department stores are pretty tight-fisted with them these days
