An answer from last week's Q&A session.
During Q&A Professor James showed how to gain under hooks from the mount position. Great details on angles. Looking forward to learning more at Saturday's Q&A sessions.

Great Details as Always. I like taking the head of Axis also. Spine not in alignment creates weakness in the body. I really like how showed how to learn this move. With the fail at first and then slowly move till you find the spot.
Seminar 2/7
If your local , will be teaching a workshop this Saturday. Details in the image. Hope to see everyone there.

Weapons
A lone figure in all black with a hood approaches you in a dark alley. He stops 5 feet in front of you. You are unarmed and cornered. Which of these weapons feels the least dangerous to you? Against which weapons would you rather defend yourself.

Choosing the bat and pepper spray. I can easily run avoid the situation and live another day. I am also by myself so running is an option.

Great Details as Always. Another Thing I started Adding is using the Breath to get that near hand in. Sometimes don't need the earthquake but combine with the breath it is a nice combo.
Base in Guard
Do you have a base when in guard position? I can see this two ways. 1. You are on your back, a huge point of contact. You could not possibly fall from there so you have a great base. It is this base that allows you the luxury of using all fours limbs on your opponent. 2. You have no base. Your goal is to build base. Get to a side, post and elbow/hand. Win the head/hip height battle. Get on top or escape. What do you guys think? Since this group is dedicated to Master Rickson’s teachings, have your ever heard him address this question?

My take on it is base is when you have gravity working against you. Standing you can be put off balance from a push pull etc. when flat on your back from closed guard you don’t need to worry about base cause you are already grounded flat on your back but breaking the base of the opponent / training partner in your guard is the objective.
