I've combed through my stash and came up with this combo:
main: dark greens and blues,
blending: burgundy, maroon,
contrast: beige and powder pink,
framing: black.
I usually prefer dark, muted colours, and I'm happy with the combination.
(though most of the sweaters I own are dark green... oh well, what can a girl do).
Just few things I'm worried about:
- I don't want a beige sweater. And though the colour category is listed as "contrast", it's A LOT of yarn! I'm afraid the sweater is going to be mostly beige.
- I'm not sure if it's ok for the contrast colour to be lighter than the main colour - I've noticed that in some designs the pattern looks better if the base is light and the motif dark. Since this is a mystery knit, I've no way of knowing if it's going to work, or if it would be better to switch these two?
- And lastly, being still a beginner, I'm not sure if it's ok to mix these materials. All of the yarns I picked are wool / merino / alpaca blends, BUT - is it ok to mix superwash and non-superwash treated yarn in one project? How will I block or wash the sweater when it is finished? (for example: dark green Malabrigo Worsted - single ply, non-superwash, and beige Rial SNC Morbidone - plied, superwash treated)
