Now I am just teasing myself
Today, I found myself in a predicament. I was teasing myself with a Longines HydroQuest featuring this absolutely stunning green sunburst dial. Seriously, it was like a siren call for my wallet!
I was there, trying on the watch, feeling like a kid in a candy store. I could almost hear it whispering, “Buy me! I’m a masterpiece!” I tried to maintain my composure, but as I caught my reflection in that shimmering dial, all I could think was, “If I wear you, I might just become one with the sea—definitely not a bad trade-off.”
And that green! It would make Kermit envious, and would be so easy to wear that perfect shade that says, “I’m classy but also down for some guacamole.” But alas, my bank account responded with a solid “Nope!” So there I was, giving myself the most extravagant pep talk: “You don’t need it, not just yet.” I even if it was 22% discounted. That’s just means when I am ready I now have a goal to bargain to.
Let’s be real, when you’re trying to convince yourself that a watch is a “necessity” while secretly knowing it’s the most extravagant impulse buy ever, that’s just prime self-teasing. The watch may not have won today, but I’ll be back, Hydro Quest—watch out!
