In the Market for a Classic Dive Watch?
This classic Doxa SUB 300 first hit the shelves and the waves in 1967, quickly establishing itself as a more “everyman” alternative to luxury dive-watch icons like the Rolex Submariner and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. For me, the 42.5mm x 45mm case and bright orange dial, originally chosen because it’s the most visible color underwater, is protected under a dome-shaped sapphire crystal, which really hits home. However, the steel “beads-of-rice” bracelet that closes the deal for me. I could see myself seriously flexing this classic on the beach or in the water. Price is $2,490. Is it a grail watch, or should it be left on the shelf?
